JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leadership- Provide leadership on initiatives, projects, or programs. Collaborate with appropriate parties to plan, implement, and/or evaluate services. May manage personnel related to specific projects.
- Personnel Management – General- Manage reporting personnel. Make decisions regarding, and take responsibility for recruitment, selection, on-boarding, development, training, discipline, termination, evaluation, salary, payroll, and/or retention. Identify and work to correct personnel management issues. May maintain and/or create position descriptions and/or performance evaluation criteria.
- Safety- Attends required Cincinnati Children’s training sessions, including radiation safety, laboratory safety, bloodborne pathogens and OSHA. Enforce compliance with Infection Control policies and procedures. Understands, adheres to and models Core Standards as defined organizationally and specifically within the department/unit. Respect patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children’s mission and applicable laws and regulations. Ensures the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged. Be a patient and staff safety advocate and work within Safety Coaching system to create a safety minded environment in the laboratories.
- Operations Management- Monitor and respond to situations that affect daily operations. Assist in the development, maintenance and oversight of program policies and procedures. Provide input on planning, evaluating and/or implementing programs and/or procedures. Plan, direct, schedule and/or manage resources and/or personnel.
- Process Improvement- Participate in improving/assuring organizational and/or departmental performance/quality through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and/or providing input to department discussions. Anticipate and actively identify and recommend areas for process/system improvement. May work with appropriate personnel to implement agreed upon changes. May participate in the evaluation of improvement initiatives/activities.
To assist in the planning, direction, implementation, coordination and improvement of services in Clinical Laboratory. To direct laboratory practice and operational efficiency, coach and develop staff, and manage the work environment. To serve as a resource for Clinical Laboratory department(s) and Patient Care areas for laboratory needs.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in laboratory sciences or related field Preferred: Masters degree in a re
- 7+ years of related experience Preferred: Operational and supervisory experience within a
- Current clinical registry (ASCP or equivalent)
