We are looking for a talented SOFC Design Leader to join our team specializing in Corporate Strategy in Fridley, MN.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
• This product focused, developing leadership position applies highly specialized knowledge of engineering principles and practices to lead the creation of optimized system-level design concepts and mechanical design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, reliability, durability, manufacturing, assembly, and serviceability with little supervision required.
• This role effectively communicates the capability of a system-level design concept to meet a vast set of requirements including a holistic assessment of alternative and competitive design concepts, and leads the development of system-level requirements by working effectively with other engineering and cross-functional disciplines, including those to resolve current product deficiencies.
• Obtains input and leads the negotiation with cross-functional and cross-discipline technical experts and senior-level designers to communicate complex subsystem and system-level design intent through a thorough Design Review package to the Product Preceding Technology, (PPT) or Value Package Introduction (VPI) team requiring a such holistic assessment of various design concepts.
• Leads the design decision making in the areas of complex subsystem and system-level design concept selection, concept optimization, and design specifications that impact customers targeted to be served by a given Product Preceding Technology, (PPT) or Value Package Introduction (VPI) initiative.
• Applies and leads the execution of processes such as Critical Design Decisions, System Design and Validation Consideration Checklist, Design Review and tools such as iDFMEA, DVA, GD&T, CREO, ANSYS Workbench required to enable high quality subsystem and system-level design decision making and design refinement.
• Leads the development and improvement of work processes and systems across function(s) within a global business unit or managing improvement across business units.

Education, Licenses, Certifications
University, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.

Experience
Prior Technical Specialist/Specialist Engineering equivalent work experience (7 plus years) in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving, quality decision making and providing technical direction and leadership to a project team(s). Knowledge of MS Office and CREO tools is preferred
• Lead the SOFC mechanical system design including the cell/stack, BoP as well as any secondary enclosures required for the various applications business development efforts require.
• The candidate is expected to have demonstrated strong background in mechanical system design, 3D modeling, structural, thermal and CFD analysis. Equally importantly, it’s expected the candidate is an expert in managing the life cycle of a new product design process, i.e. concept generation, requirement management, design review, validation and releases.
• The candidate will be managing a cross functional team in multiple locations. Experience working on SOFC systems is not a requirement to qualify this role but would be a big plus.

Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
