Job description
An exciting opportunity currently exists for an experienced Operations Manager in the Wildcat Delivery Team, part of the Helicopters Operating Centre, based at the Leonardo Helicopter site Yeovil.
The role is part of the Integrated Logistics (iLog) function and is responsible for the In -Service development, management and delivery of support for Wildcat Helicopters The Service Management is pivotal to successful delivery of the Wildcat Integrated Support and Training service. The successful candidate will be an effective manager, with an ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders, building trusting relationships with each to ensure the best outcome for Defence.
In response to often developing or changing requirements, you will need to be open minded and agile supporting your team through to satisfactory resolution.
You will translate requirements into clear manageable schedules, determining resource requirements to support implementation, communicating these to Delivery Team colleagues and senior managers.
You will routinely interpret management information to provide valuable business insights and work alongside senior colleagues to help share strategy and policy within your role area.
This post will require frequent travel to Head Office, Bristol Abbey Wood.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for;
•Manage the liaison with stakeholders including customers, suppliers and internal teams on specific issues and implement solutions that maximise platform availability for minimum through-life cost, through collaboration with technical and engineering colleagues to meet the agreed requirements
•Monitor the performance of suppliers in terms of the quality, timeliness and reliability of goods and/or services to ensure agreed contractual obligations are met
•Coordinate the implementation of change to requirements in response to cost and time pressures to ensure delivery to the customer meets expectations
•Manage investigations where the required KPIs are not being achieved to the required quality, standard or timescales, and help to identify the issues and take appropriate action
•Manage resources, monitoring actual spend and updating forecasts accordingly to ensure the integrated support meets customer requirements fully within the agreed budget
•Manage agreed governance arrangements for the delivery of the service, aligned with iLog best practice and KPI’s
•Responsible to taking appropriate interest in all aspects of inventory and supply chain management for the Wildcat Helicopter
•Act as Delivery Manager
What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• Significant experience of working within at least one of the following fields: Operations Management, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance/Accounting, Through life support, or Commercial.
• Experience of developing and managing teams through a change where you can demonstrate improved delivery of an output that was valuable to the customer and the company that you work for.
It would benefit your application should you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
• A Defence/MOD background would be highly desirable

About your team
The Integrated Logistics (iLog) Function is the integrating Function for Support within DE&S, responsible for the development, management and delivery of in-service support for our front-line command customers. The iLog Function consists of around 2,900 personnel, both civil servants and military, and with a wide range of disciplines ranging from operations management and supply chain management, technical through-life support and logistics delivery, to modelling and analysis and internal continuous improvement consultancy services.
