Starting Wage: $21.47+ per hour, depending on qualifications
Hours: Temporary/Seasonal 40 hours per week
Location: Camp Lake Helena, Port Orchard, WA

Would you like to share your passion for youth development? Would you like to use your knowledge and skills to give kids the best summer ever? As the day camp director, you will build relationships, instill confidence, and provide opportunities for growth and improvement by planning, coordinating, and organizing programs at the YMCA’s regional day camp site at Camp Lake Helena. Through your leadership, instruction, and motivation, you will ensure the implementation of high quality day camp programs.
In this position you will be able to use your skills to:
- Provide administration and operation of summer day camp program under the direct supervision of the Camping Services Executive Director.
- Supervise day camp leadership, unit leaders and camp staff and provide weekly feedback and daily support, administer quick checks and day camp assessments, and incorporate weekly themes into camp.
- Ensure that systems are in place for managing registrations and developing group lists and rosters.
- Work with facilities staff and volunteers to prepare the site for summer
- Provide resources and new programming ideas for camp program.
- Responsible for site security during hours onsite.
- Maintain communication with parents regarding daily check-in/out, camper experiences, behavioral concerns and gather feedback to make program improvements.
- Create and monitor weekly staff schedules to maintain proper staff:camper ratios.
- Provide leadership, recognition, and mentoring to all camp staff.
- Monitor weekly budget, make recommendations and adjustments accordingly.
- Develop and operate program to meet all ACA standards.
- Maintain and prepare records and supporting documentation for ACA visits (Summer 2021).
- Ensure compliance of ACA standards for the Camp Lake Helena Day Camp and other facility uses.

Are you a good fit?

- You have at least two-years of experience in summer day camp.
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).
- You have a positive attitude and previous experience with children and diverse populations.
- You have knowledge and skills in day camp program activities and related equipment set-up, and the ability to instruct participants in age appropriate techniques.
- You specialize and have practical knowledge of, or experience in, group and camp leadership, child development and supervision, staff management, development and motivation.
- You have the outstanding ability to work independently and as part of a team.
