Full-Time Customs Assistant Officer
Job Description
As a Customs Assistant Officer you will work in a responsible administrative role in close partnership with UK Border Force to tackle Customs Fraud, and protect the UK economy as we leave the European Union.
Working in a Customs warehouse will involve investigating and carrying out checks on a wide range of goods imported into the UK suspected of being undervalued, incorrectly described or counterfeit.
Although you don’t need any existing knowledge or experience of Customs in order to apply, it would be useful if you have an interest in being at the forefront of pursuing Import Fraud.

About you
You should possess
Good administrative skills,
Strong written and oral skills
As this role is also a physical one, it will involve essential manual handling activities such as
Lifting
Pushing
Pulling
And moving items throughout the course of your day-to-day duties
Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting Checks – open and examine goods to check that everything is as it should be.
Taking Product Samples – arrange for samples of goods to be sent to our specialist teams, seeking further advice where necessary.
Raising demands/penalties – work with senior officers to establish whether demands for payment and/or penalties are necessary.
Seizing illicit goods – operate within the limits of your authority to recommend seizure/detention of suspected illicit goods.
Working collaboratively – forge effective professional relationships with UK Border Force and other stakeholders to carry out your role effectively.
Maintaining Records/Databases – following our guidance to record and store information in line with our professional standards
