Job Description
In 1993, Spectrum established its Correctional Treatment Division to provide specialized treatment to offenders with a history of chronic substance abuse and criminal behavior. Using a cognitive-behavioral skill building and therapeutic community approach, Spectrum’s correctional treatment programs teach participants practical ways to achieve a law abiding life, free from drugs and crime. Today, Spectrum provides a range of services to more than 6,500 criminal offenders each day, in community-based settings and correctional institutions throughout Massachusetts, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia.
The CRA Counselor Facilitates psycho-educational groups and provides individual treatment planning to a caseload maintained by the counselor. The Correctional Recovery Academy (CRA) is a Modified Therapeutic Community approach to reducing relapse and recidivism through facilitating and modeling appropriate social skills as well as effective relapse prevention. The program is a residential community of male inmates. Provides counseling services to offenders in the assigned treatment program. This position also works closely with Massachusetts Department of Corrections (MA DOC) staff to coordinate all program services and provide information for case management/records management as needed.
This position is located within MCI Norfolk.
Pay Rate: $19.23/per hour ($40,000 annually).

This position requires one shift of 12:00pm-8:00pm per week, and four shifts of 8:00am-4:00pm. Work days are Monday-Friday.
Quick-paced job where flexibility and organizational skills are a necessity.
This position consists of group facilitation, individual counseling, paper record keeping as well as computer record keeping, and engagement and involvement in behavior change.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to work at least one evening shift per week.
- State Certification as a CADC/LADC preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
- Two years experience in the Chemical Dependency field preferred.
- Corrections experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
