Job Description
We are looking for a talented Corporate Counsel – Brand & Marketing to join our Legal team specializing in global trademark enforcement, copyright and anti-counterfeiting for Cummins globally working from your home office (with travel).
The Corporate Counsel – Brand & Marketing is responsible for overseeing Cummins’ global trademark and copyright portfolio, global search and clearance, enforcement and providing product marketing and brand related guidance, direction and support primarily to internal stakeholders of Cummins, Inc.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
• Build and work with an international team dedicated to bringing enforcement actions against counterfeiters and other bad actors.
• Analyzing internal and external data sources to identify high value targets, developing and pursuing civil and criminal cases against bad actors.
• Collaborating with law enforcement agencies and rights owners throughout the world in support of prosecutions and disruptions of counterfeiters’ supply chains; and working cross-functionally with other internal teams to ensure close coordination in Cummins’ fight against counterfeits.
• Support stakeholders across all Cummins business units, business segments, regions, and functions.
• Act as trusted advisor for mid to high level management; has strong grasp of business environment; effectively partners with stakeholders to identify and design needed improvements; provides legal as well as practical advice within the appropriate business context; understands and manages stakeholder expectations.
• Lead and support leadership in legal function projects.
• Share in management of outside counsel relationships
REQUIRED SKILLS:
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
• The ability to lead and work well in a team environment.
• Strong organization, planning and research skills.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic and fast paced work environment.
• Experience, negotiating and drafting IP related agreements (M&A experience not required, but preferred)
• Ability to supervise and/or mentor junior lawyers, paralegals or administrative assistants
Education/Experience
• Degree in Law.
• License to practice law in home jurisdiction.
• Some travel, domestic and international, will be required.
• Trademark litigation experience highly desired.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
