Community Projects Coordinator

The Purpose:    

Manchester United Foundation believes every young person should feel empowered to achieve their goals and uses the power of football and Manchester United to support young people to make positive choices in their live.
The Street Reds project uses the power of football and Manchester United to provide young people with opportunities to pursue their interest in playing, leading and coaching the game while participating in educational and diversionary activities.
These free sessions are open to young people aged 8 -18 and aims to help them live healthier, happier lives developing their physical and mental wellbeing and providing a sense of belonging while developing their skills and leadership qualities.

How to Apply

The Role:
  • To contribute to the strategic planning of and lead the operational delivery of all Street Reds activities and events within allocated region.
  • To create a fun and safe Street Reds environment that is inspiring, dynamic, challenging, and educational which is aligned with the Street Reds philosophy.
  • To use recognised good practice to recruit, lead and develop casual staff for allocated sites, including consistent quality assurance and identification of training and support needs.
  • To plan and lead on regular meetings and training sessions with all staff assigned to your projects to ensure they are motivated, informed and in a state of readiness to deliver high quality Street Reds sessions.
  • To work with the Community Engagement Manager to develop innovative service level agreement objectives to ensure they remain relevant, unique, and aligned to the strategic vision of the Foundation and that of the Street Reds project.
  • To raise the profile of allocated Street Reds projects by working with the Communications department to promote activities internally and externally.
  • To undertake personal development as and when required by Manchester United Foundation and the club.
The Person:
  • Strong functional skills in English and Mathematics.
  • Minimum FA Level 2 in coaching football and relevant support qualifications.
  • A full and clean UK driving licence (or recognised equivalent).
  • Empathy towards others.
  • A passion for working with children, young people and hard to reach groups.
  • Self-driven individual who brings life and energy to their delivery.
  • Ability to be a positive role model.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to adapt and diversify delivery in programmes/sessions.
  • Inclusive leadership skills that bring together diverse individuals, groups & stakeholders.
  • Innovative and able to convert difficulties into successes.
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual and as a team member.
  • Forward planner.
  • Previous experience working (paid or volunteering) with children and young people, preferably within a charitable, school, community, or sporting environment.
  • Experience of managing partnerships and programmes, demonstrating a passion for innovation, creativity and excellence.
  • Proven record of developing and supporting individuals aligned to strategic goals, policy and relevant training.
Desirable
  • Youth work qualification
  • Proven ability of engaging with a range of stakeholders and external partners in order to achieve strategic and contractual objectives.
  • Experience of scoping, delivering, monitoring and evaluating a range of physical activity programmes.
