Part-Time Community Outreach Specialist (30 hours)
Job Description
The Community Outreach and Young Adult Engagement Specialist is responsible for targeting young adults in the City of Marlborough and connecting them to appropriate services including the WRSC.
The Community Outreach and Engagement Specialist is also responsible for educating the public about addiction and the multiple pathways to Recovery, recruiting participants, and networking with community-based organizations in collaboration with peer volunteers. Assist Young adults on their pathway to Recovery/or help maintain a strong Recovery. Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
This position is Part-Time (30 hours per week).
Pay rate is $15.00 – $17.00/hour.

Qualifications:
– One year of experience in a substance abuse program preferred.
– Working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
– Be familiar with local recovery community.
– Experience working within the young adult and substance misuse services, with a clear understanding of the need for and ability to deliver quality services.
– Knowledge and understanding of the specific need often associated with the Young adult population.
– Experience providing harm minimization advice and information that reduces the potential negative impact on individuals and communities.
– Experience with referral procedures to a range of treatment / community support agencies.
– Experience with the provision of support that is structured, focused and time-limited to the point of entry with clients waiting to access appropriate treatment /support services generated from contacts with the street population.
– Experience of assertive outreach in order to engage with clients previously referred into treatment services who have dropped out of prescribing / treatment / support regimes.
– Experience/knowledge of providing effective outreach provision to hard to reach groups.
– Experience with data collection systems, information technology and general administrative duties.
– Must have excellent verbal, social, and writing skills.
– Must display the use of appropriate independent judgment to determine appropriate course of action in resolving problems and in emergencies.
– Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary, culturally diverse setting with clients, families, staff and regulatory agencies.
– Must have valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
