Position Purpose
This position oversees, leads, and contributes to statewide Sustainability in Prisons Project (SPP) program and outreach activities. The position is part of the SPP leadership team to develop and sustain innovative collaborations with diverse program partners and participants to advance the mission of SPP. Specific responsibilities include oversight of community-expert supported and peer-led environmental education programs, all SPP program certificates, and development of new education materials. The position leads outreach for statewide SPP programs, including development and maintenance of web, social media, photo, and print materials for audiences within corrections facilities, partner organizations, and the external public. Responsibilities also include developing and implementing systems for operating, tracking, and reporting on specific assigned programs areas and organization-wide resources such as the SPP annual report, protocols, and metadata. As SPP regularly receives state, national, and international interest, this position includes occasional networking, consultation, interviews, and provision of SPP resources to support others aiming to partner, research, or start new programs aligned with SPP’s mission.
This is a part-time .8 FTE (32 hour per week), overtime-eligible project position at the Olympia campus of The Evergreen State College and within Washington State Department of Corrections (WA Corrections) facilities. This project position is grant and contract funded through September 30, 2021 with extension likely and dependent on renewed funding.
Salary and Benefits: $3,644.00 – $4,899.20 per month of part-time work + excellent benefits including paid sick and vacation leave; paid campus holidays; a generous medical, dental, life, and disability insurance package; and a tuition waiver program.
