Full-Time Community Outreach Educator
Job Description
Delivers high quality, medically accurate, culturally responsive education programs to various community groups. Facilitates youth leadership and/or peer education programming that increases access to sex education for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ young people in the assigned region. Customizes or develops lesson plans and curricula when appropriate. Maintains fidelity and implements evidence-based programs (EBP) where required. Conducts outreach to expand services in designated service area and assists community organizations in selecting and delivering appropriate programs.
Estimated starting hourly rate: $24-$35 DOE
Compensation: PPGNHAIK’s compensation philosophy is based on equity and transparency. Starting offers are determined by both the candidate’s directly applicable experience and internal equity within the pay grade. The pay range is $24 to $35 , paid (annually Or hourly).
Position is based in Meridian, ID
Full-time 37.5 hours/week with benefits
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivers high quality, medically accurate, culturally responsive education programs on sexuality, reproductive health, and Planned Parenthood services to young people in the community.
- Builds and maintains authentic and reciprocal relationships with community partners, stakeholders and others invested in young people, with a priority placed on BIPOC and LGBTQ youth populations.
- Engages in informal and structured conversations with diverse groups by listening, contributing, developing understanding and relationships, integrating diverse perspectives, and building consensus.
- Contributes to soliciting youth voice and guidance related to affiliate and/or Education Department programs and goals.
- When appropriate, maintains fidelity to established curricula and program models and implements evidence-based programs (EBPs).
- When appropriate, customizes lesson plans and curricula or develops new lesson plans and curricula for outreach education and training efforts. Utilizes appropriate educational and technological methodologies and ensures cultural sensitivity. Participates in Lesson Quality Assurance processes.
- Conducts community assessments of services and programs and initiates outreach efforts with LGBTQ+ and BIPOC organizations and stakeholders.
- Facilitates adult education and training occasionally to support capacity building and Education Department strategic goals.
- Prepares and distributes educational and informational materials for education programs and responds to requests for materials.
- Assists in supporting overall expansion of Education services, including providing support to the Peer Education Institute by creating and conducting training videos, modules, and webinars; writing and editing curriculum; creating and managing website and other social media content; and/or providing technical assistance to Peer Education Institute partners.
- Provides monthly report of educational and outreach activities and other data and reporting requirements, as necessary.
- May be required to answer questions about Planned Parenthood services, including surgical and medication abortions.
- May provide support of Education interns and volunteers.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing networks.
- Represents the agency at community gatherings.
- Skillfully uses multiple communication techniques and learning platforms to engage community members and staff, such as virtual, web-based, print, phone, and culturally responsive language.
- Adapts teaching and facilitation style and technique to meet the diverse needs of community partners and youth from a culturally responsive perspective.
- Facilitates skillfully through cultural difference and understands and effectively manages complex group dynamics within youth programming.
- Completes administrative tasks, such as tracking program activities, completing data entry, scheduling, and communicating in a timely manner.

You’ll need to have:
- Education/Qualifications: BA/BS in related field typically required. Consideration may be given for progress toward completion of an applicable BA/BS degree or other applicable experience or education/training.
- Experience:
- Minimum of two years of experience as an educator, trainer, and/or working with youth.
- Two years of experience delivering education or other services in BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+ communities preferred
- Two years of experience facilitating youth leadership or peer education groups preferred
- Sexual and reproductive health knowledge preferred.
- Experience with outreach, recruitment, and relationship building preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred (may be required for some communities)
- Ability to travel, primarily local travel is frequent and anticipated to average 50%
- Must have access to car. Valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance required.
