Class Concept
Basic Professional level in communications occupation under general managerial direction. Provides support by performing a wide variety of tasks that include creating content and designing print materials, managing social media, developing presentations for public speaking events, assisting in event management, and fostering collaborative relationships within the community.
Job Duties
Develops concise communications, talking points, presentations, community engagement plans, and media releases on various topics for departments under the Board of County Commissioners. Gathers, writes, designs, and edits content for County newsletters, internet, intranet and social media sites. Utilizes photography and videography equipment to create professional images and media on behalf of the County.
Assists with drafting releases, social media posts, web content, and talking points. Researches and responds to records requests, community inquiries, and complaints. Assists with the development and implementation of large projects. Reviews and posts approved items in the County Web Management System and social media. Collaborates with communications team to ensure delivery of consistent branding and marketing efforts. Creates metrics to measure success of communications and media engagement, and creates reports about communication campaign impacts. Works with department leaders to ensure efforts are tied to strategic goals and outcomes.
Provides marketing/media support services for various departments under the Board of County Commissioners. Develops relationships and collaborates with community organizations to inform and educate on county services. Engages audiences through social media to enhance public relations. Supports public outreach efforts to promote the County’s public image and brand awareness (e.g., staffing information tables at various events, presenting to service clubs, meeting with members of the community, promoting events and programs).

Minimum Class Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations – OR Associate’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations or related discipline and 2 years work experience in communications, journalism, or public relations.
OR alternative, equivalent evidence of the Minimum Class Requirements.
Driving Requirement: Must have current valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
