  • Develop and optimize innovative products to deepen engagement with our online communities, such as podcasts, videos, and images, among others
  • Define regional priorities for communications in global channels, to help educate people beyond LAC about the situation for digital rights in the region, why it matters to the world, and how international stakeholders can take action
  • Plan the regional editorial agenda and facilitate and coordinate the publication of blogs and long-form content, such as reports, including real-time response, coordinating with team members, editing and quality control, and liaising with translators and contractors
  • Develop and enforce style guidelines for Spanish-language publications
  • Explore and lead new Spanish-language social media platforms to be implemented
  • Monitor and evaluate published content, including audience feedback, to drive continuous improvement
  • Support event and meeting organization, including liaising with guests, tech troubleshooting, sending invitations, monitoring YouTube/platform chats, and sharing information
  • Contribute fully to our interdisciplinary advocacy work, collaborating with campaigners, policy analysts, and other team members as needed
  • Explore, propose, and develop projects and initiatives that spark your interest
  • Assist in the global implementation of the annual RightsCon summit series
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills, education, and mindset you will bring

  • Five years of experience reporting, editing, and publishing fact-based content as part of a newsroom or a comms role in civil society, in the public or private sectors
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required; Portuguese fluency is a plus
  • Passion for the mission, with understanding of the unique challenges at-risk and vulnerable communities confront, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as familiarity with (or a demonstrated willingness to learn about) developments in technology and its impact on human rights
  • Strong persuasive writing skills and the ability to distill complex issues into simple compelling messages
  • Strong internal and external communication and project management skills, paired with cultural sensitivity and openness
  • Past experience with WordPress or a similar content management system (CMS). SEO knowledge is a plus
