LOCATION
Hybrid work from either our Jacksonville, FL or Atlanta, GA office is required with flexibility to work remote up to 2 days per week. Relocation assistance will be provided.
SUMMARY
The Cloud Architect is responsible for strategizing, designing, creating, and executing on Cloud Native environments (specifically AWS and Azure) by providing technical expertise in support of corporate initiatives. Additionally, the Cloud Architect will be responsible for ensuring that critical cloud applications are secure and optimized for reliability, high availability, and disaster recovery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as a Subject Matter Expert to the organization for cloud, automation, and end-to-end architecture for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions
Works closely with other teams to develop and promote cloud-native application architectures (microservices, serverless, containers), and application development and operations practices
Maintains overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, etc. and demonstrate forward thinking around how technology can support where the organization is going
Collaborates and provides technical guidance to other team members for the design, implementation and support of new cloud platform architecture and automation technologies
Advocates and defines cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective, including internal and external platforms, tools, and systems
Designs, configures, implements, and supports a fully automated workflow for provisioning and maintaining a complex, highly available cloud environment
Assists in the development of technology roadmaps and end-of-life technology plans
Reviews product work, including detailed code, from other team members for approval to deploy; provide technical feedback as needed
Provides technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service owners
Drives scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design for cloud platform projects
Creates and maintains documentation of architecture solutions, such as whitepapers, reference architectures, implementation diagrams, and relevant systems, procedures, and processes
Provides prescriptive guidance in addressing customer concerns and helping customers make decisions, enabling expansive use of the cloud platform
Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience
Requires four (4) to six (6) years overall experience in engineering, cloud and/or architecture
Experience with AWS technologies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong hands-on experience scripting/development skills in one of the following: Java, Go, or Python – Highly Preferred
Experience designing, developing, and implementing Cloud Native environment (e.g. AWS or Azure) – Highly Preferred
Experience working with Kubernetes based platforms
Experience with Container Technologies
Experience with microservice architecture
Exposure to DevOps tools and technologies like ADO, Jenkins, Github, and/or Gitlab
Experience with architecting, implementing, and maintaining highly available mission critical environments
Experience working in an environment with a defined production change control process and mature security controls posture
Demonstrated knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability)
Experience implementing database technologies in cloud environments
Experience working in a financial services or highly regulated environment preferred
Good consultative, communication, team player and analytical skills are a must, as you will be regularly interacting between various teams which are distributed across the US
Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing to business and technology leaders, architects, developers, and team members
Demonstrated history of working within deadlines and ability to work well under pressure
Relevant industry certifications in AWS, Microsoft Azure, Red Hat OpenShift or other cloud platforms (plus)
