G2 Software Systems, Inc. (G2SS) is seeking a self-directed and motivated Cloud Application Engineer to support a dynamic US Marine Corps application development and deployment team. If you have experience and interest in software and systems engineering focused on designing application deployment architectures, specifically in cloud container provisioning, deployment, and management, and are passionate about ensuring robust cybersecurity measures, this role is for you!

As a Cloud Application Engineer at G2SS, you will be a critical player in designing, implementing, and maintaining a modern cloud container deployment environment in support of vital Marine Corps operations. Your expertise in containerized software applications and DoD cybersecurity requirements will help our team implement a capable, secure, containerized application, making a meaningful impact on national defense.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Support DoD software and systems engineering activities as a developer and cloud application engineer.
- Support a rich, multi-container service architecture using cutting edge software packages including OpenShift and Helm Charts.
- Work with developers, DevSecOps pipeline engineers, QA/Test Automation Engineers, and cybersecurity professionals to implement and maintain a robust, secure OpenShift container deployment.
- Prepare, coordinate, and review professional documentation describing the application deployment, including supporting the creation of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts.
- Support DoD certification and accreditation (C&A) processes, including the current Risk Management Framework (RMF), to ensure proper system cybersecurity configuration management.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related engineering or science discipline.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in DoD software/systems engineering, including experience in container architecture, provisioning, and management.
- At least three (3) years of experience working directly with cloud container technologies like Docker, Open Shift, Kubernetes, Helm charts, etc.
- Strong background in object-oriented software engineering principles and practices.
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps pipeline tools and technologies.
- Strong knowledge of DoD cybersecurity practices, specifically with DISA Software Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- U.S. Citizenship is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA Linux+
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to navigate each department at the assigned facility.
Location:
This is a full-time hybrid position based in San Diego, CA. You’ll enjoy the flexibility of working from home while also engaging with the team in person at the client office as needed based on workload. Remote work options will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Travel <20%.
Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation range for this position in California is $130,000/year to $160,000/year, depending on your expertise, market location conditions, and government contract specifics.
