Location: 22 Adelaide Street West, Toronto (currently working remotely but will need to commute to the office when it reopens)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Children’s Sales Assistant, reporting to the Sales Manager, Children’s Books, National Accounts & Analysis. The Children’s Sales Assistant will work with our Children’s Department to provide general support for sales functions within the department, as they pertain to Children’s product lines at HarperCollins.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Harper Children’s Selling (85%)
• Maintain children’s backlist catalogues, specialized lists and coordinate backlist promos for children’s product.
• Provide sales assistance for Children’s Proprietary projects including seeking approval, data loading, image sourcing and attending regular proprietary meetings.
• Coordinate materials for national accounts and maintain national account order grid.
• Coordinate signed carton, display, and seasonal projections.
• Data assistance for children’s titles including catalogue auditing and managing enhanced data for Usborne.
• Prepare weekly sales reports and other sales analysis as needed for children’s product lines.
• Assist in the creation of buying grids for major accounts
• Coordinate with supply chain on stock shortages
• Create presentations for major account meeting
• Collate and distribute title change information and materials from respective publishing partners.
• Assist with title presentations at seasonal digital sales (Kobo, Apple) and sales conference.
• Provide general assistance for Children’s sales team.

2. Wholesale (15%)
• Assist with sales function for children’s wholesale channel.
• Audit and amend Booking Agreements and Purchase Orders (Wholesale)
o Identify and secure approval for coop and markdowns
o Identify stock shortages and communicate them to supply chain

Qualifications:
• 1 year of experience in publishing or book retail would be an asset.
• Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
• Publishing Program Certificate would be an asset.
• Knowledge of Canadian Publishing industry.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Google applications and an ability to learn a variety of company systems.
• Strong data analysis skills
• Strong written & oral communication and critical thinking skills.
• Able to multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be results-oriented and take appropriate steps to achieve goals.
• Passion for Children’s publishing would be an asset.
