Business Development Director (Seattle, WA) (Hybrid Work Model)

FSi Engineers is seeking a dynamic Business Development Director to drive our company’s growth and enhance our industry presence. In this position, you will be responsible for spearheading business development initiatives, managing our participation in trade organizations, and planning and executing sponsorships and community events. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to promote the FSi Engineers brand and expand our industry network.

As the mentor of our marketing support team, you will play a crucial role in guiding and developing team members while working alongside our Marketing Director on various marketing initiatives. Your contributions will be vital to the success of our business development strategies.

SALARY:

$ 115,000 – $165,000 per year

JOB SUMMARY:

The Business Development Director at FSi Engineers is responsible for driving the company’s growth through strategic business development leadership, event planning, and relationship management. This role involves managing our presence in trade organizations, planning and executing sponsorship and community events, and leading business development initiatives with both internal teams and external partners. This role will also be the leader and mentor of the marketing support team. The Business Development Director will play a crucial role in promoting the FSi Engineers brand and expanding our industry network. This position requires up to 10% travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, you’ll contribute significantly to our organization’s commitment to excellence. As the Business Development Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading and participating in project teams guided and supported by experienced leaders and FSi brand experts. You will work in collaboration with the Marketing Director on marketing initiatives. You will be a supervisor and mentor to the marketing support team and manage business development initiatives.  Your tasks will span a wide array of disciplines and subjects, including but not limited to:

Strategic Development and Growth:

  • Work with the Marketing Director to drive the company’s innovation strategy for new platforms and ideas, adapting as necessary to meet business needs and market trends.
  • Support the development and annual refresh of a comprehensive innovation pipeline, maintaining a plan/vision of potential opportunities.
  • Conduct after-action reviews of innovation initiatives with the Marketing Director post-launch to assess effectiveness and areas for improvement.

Business Development Leadership:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing marketing support team.
  • Provide clear direction, build and nurture talent, and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Organize, support, and mentor marketing support team members.
  • Coordinate, collaborate, and support the marketing team.

Event Planning and Execution:

  • Plan, organize, and execute sponsorships and community events to enhance the company’s presence.
  • Manage client events, including sports ticket coordination for events like Kraken and Mariners games.
  • Lead office open houses and other in-house events.
  • Plan and oversee client appreciation events and gifts.

Networking and Relationship Building:

  • Establish and maintain strong industry relationships to support business development efforts.
  • Represent FSi Engineers at industry and community events.
  • Participate in professional organizations and manage event sponsorship and participation.
  • Support branch offices with relationship-building and systematize business development efforts.
  • Support seller-doers and leaders in their business development activities.
  • Support pre-proposal meetings and interviews.
  • Develop and manage a client experience/satisfaction program, including surveys, metrics, strategy, and debriefs.

Marketing Team and Agency Collaboration:

  • Lead business development initiatives with administrative staff and external partners.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team and Marketing Director to drive impactful marketing campaigns.

Market Research and Innovation:

  • Support the Marketing Director to stay current with technology tools and data sources that support innovation.
  • Work with the Marketing Director to conduct research on industry trends and budget allocations to inform marketing strategies.

Management of Digital Marketing:

  • Oversee digital marketing efforts, including social media and website content.
  • Manage the website to ensure up-to-date and relevant information.
  • Mentor marketing department employees, fostering their growth and experience in digital marketing.

Planning, Oversight, and Quality Control:

  • Set client and contact priorities.
  • Organize and track contacts and relationships.
  • Prioritize organizational memberships and mentor engineers in professional organization participation.
  • Conduct speaker training and support initiatives like Toastmasters.
  • Support Marketing Director on marketing communication efforts and QC, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7-15 years of experience in business development, strategic marketing, event planning, managing a team, and community engagement.
  • Industry experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field a plus.
  • Exceptional communication and public relations skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong industry relationships.
  • Proficiency in managing social media platforms and website content.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team effectively.
  • Experience with speaker training and client relationship management.
