Job Description
- Perform skilled mechanical work involving servicing and repairs of mechanical systems of gas/diesel-powered automotive and heavy equipment that includes:
- Preventive Maintenance
- Tires and Tubes
- Wheel & Rims
- Cranking Systems
- Lighting Systems
- Cooling Systems
- Fuel Systems
- Hydraulic Systems
- Prepare paperwork relating to employment and equipment repair.
- Perform skilled mechanical work involving servicing and repairs of mechanical systems of gas/diesel-powered automotive and heavy equipment that includes:
- A complete set of mechanic tools.
- Commercial Driver’s License. (Note: If you don’t have this, still apply. You can get it through our on-the-job training program within 360 days of hire!)
- Experience in the repair and replacement of tires and performing preventive maintenance on a minimum of 1 of these: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and/or heavy equipment.
- Skills using 2+ of the tools/equipment used in an equipment shop, such as wrenches, sockets, battery chargers, hydraulic jacks, loaders, forklifts, automotive/truck lifts, fuel service trucks, tire changers, tire balancers, welders, cutting torches, diagnostic equipment, computers, tire jacks, tire balance machines, pneumatic wrenches, diagnostic gauges, electronic testers, air impact wrenches, air compressors, air guns, and/or torque wrenches.
- Ability to repair/maintain automotive and heavy equipment and diagnose problems using diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
- Strength to move and perform heavy lifting of relatively-heavy objects, including parts and materials to repair and maintain equipment.
- Ability to safely operate equipment for testing purposes.
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments.
- Commitment to providing a safe working environment by leading by example.
- Can read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals, schematics, diagrams, and sketches.
- Strength to move relatively-heavy objects. Must be able to perform heavy lifting. Employee is required to furnish a complete set of mechanic tools.
- We will conduct a pre-employment drug test and a background check for your previous employers over the past 2 years about controlled substances/alcohol testing.
- We may require EPA certification as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician.
- High School/GED diploma, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
