Team Overview
RFA has organized a “practice” at every level of government: federal, state, and local. Among numerous efforts, the Federal Practice sets a Standard of Excellence that defines how federal agencies should use data and evidence in policy, practice, grant-making, and management decisions. The team offers technical support and coaching for federal government leaders to advance and promote best practices as defined by the Standard of Excellence and shifts government dollars to programs with evidence of effectiveness. The Federal Practice additionally provides policy research and analysis on and advocacy for evidence-based policy. Finally, the Federal Practice supports the State and Local Practices’ proactive’s efforts to enhance state and local implementation of national programs, such as the American Rescue Plan, to produce real results for residents across the country.
Position Overview
This Associate, Federal Team achieves its impact through consistent administrative and coordination support to the VP/Federal Practice Lead and ensuring the entire Federal Practice team has efficient systems in place to optimize team capacity to meet strategic North Star goals. The Associate’s responsibilities encompass three core functions (administrative tasks, program support and execution, and internal team coordination) in a brisk, fast-paced working environment.
Travel up to 10% annually may be required.
This is a full-time, exempt position, based in a home office anywhere within the U.S. Eastern Time Zone preferred.
Position Reporting Relationship
The Associate, Federal Team will report to the VP/Federal Practice Lead.
Position Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Associate are grounded in three core functions: administration, program support and execution, and internal team coordination. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Administration (40%)
- Manages VP/Federal Practice Lead’s calendar, with high-touch scheduling support for all external meetings and events
- Collaborate with VP and Director to update and share out Federal Practice Team meeting agenda weekly.
- Support VP with coordination of Federal Practices’ engagement in the Quarterly All Team Meetings.
- Schedule meetings and external events on behalf of multiple Federal team members
- Document meeting notes and action items from internal and external partner meetings & assist the VP/Federal Practice Lead with follow-up as needed;
- Manage & organize Federal team documentation, such as contact lists and Asana projects;
- Add Federal program materials to relevant websites in a timely manner;
- Manage the entire Federal team’s file system to ensure proper documentation and easy access to materials;
- Manage & directly input Federal team data into Asana and Salesforce; and
- Assist the VP/Federal Practice Lead with budget management, including reimbursements, travel, and debit card tracking.
Program Support and Execution (40%)
Support individual Federal team leads on specific ongoing projects including, but not limited to:
- Support the Federal Place Matters policy collaborative’s stakeholder management processes including:
- Scheduling meetings
- Setting up/tech support for Office Hours & Zoom-based events
- Drafting agendas, taking minutes and providing meeting follow-up as needed
- Documenting, summarizing and appropriately filing conversations with place-based partnership teams to understand their needs
- Completing other tasks assigned by the Federal Place Matters policy collaborative team leads
- Support/project manage relationships with federal consultants and send agenda for internal team meetings.
- Support Federal Practice Manager to track congressional and federal agency outreach, sign-on letters, and What Works Coalition engagement in Salesforce.
- Schedule meetings & track documents for Federal Standard of Excellence engagements the Federal Standard team lead
- Coordinate with the Associate Director, Fed & State Comms and RFA Events team to support execution of RFA-led and RFA-participating Fed team virtual and in-person events
Federal Team Operations (20%)
- Assist with team data entry and maintenance, such as contact lists, federal NOFOs, Asana projects, and Salesforce records;
- Assist the VP/Federal Practice Lead with the facilitation and documentation of weekly Federal team meetings, such as updating decks, note-taking and drafting follow-up communications.
- Manage Contract development & approval processes in support of the VP/Federal Practice Lead in adherence to RFA Finance team-led processes
- Help track & collect information & assist the VP/Federal Practice Lead to prep materials for quarterly Federal stocktake meetings

Experience and Competencies
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, as well as an alignment with Results for America’s mission and organizational values:
Experience:
- 3 – 6 years of work experience and college degree;
- Work experience within government (federal, state, and/or county/city) valued
- Experience with administrative skills in business email communications, note-taking, and calendar management;
- Demonstrated track record of successful project completion and taking initiative to anticipate and solve problems;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once;
- Experience organizing and administering in-person and virtual events;
Competencies & Qualifications:
- Passion and excitement for administrative and team scheduling work;
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with a proven ability to meet multiple short and long-term deadlines;
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships;

- Prior experience/skills with the following tools are a plus:
- Asana
- Salesforce.
Salary and Benefits
Results for America offers a compensation package that includes:
- A competitive base salary commensurate with relevant work experience; and
- A benefits package that includes choice in medical plans; dental/vision coverage; paid time off; a 403b retirement plan with employer contribution.
The salary range for this position is $70,246 – $81,576.
New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.
