Full-Time Assistant Traffic Engineer – Entry-Level
Job Description
- Assist with reviewing traffic impact analysis and project plans.
- Perform general safety and mobility traffic studies.
- Handle necessary coordination/inspection for projects under design and construction that the Traffic unit is overseeing,
- Attend meetings related to these items.
- Perform complex and detailed work such as traffic studies and plan reviews.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office and CADD drafting.
- Knowledge of engineering standards policies and procedures related to transportation.
- Experience writing memos, reports, and emails that clearly convey technical information and engineering concepts.
- Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
- Experience applying engineering concept to solve complex problems.
- Ability to gain knowledgeable of all policies and procedures to assure NCDOT specifications are being met.
- Ability to accurately perform math calculations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reports, letter writing, and daily contact with the public, government officials, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Safety toe footwear is required within 30 days of employment.
- State driver’s license is preferred.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
