Assistant Teaching Professor of Political Science

Ball State University’s Department of Political Science invites applications for a contract faculty position in public administration available August 2022. Primary responsibilities will be contributing to the teaching, governance, and community service of the department’s growing Master of Public Administration program. The Department of Political Science serves over 250 undergraduate majors and some 45 graduate students, including 30 in the MPA program. Assigned time may be available to assist with projects in the Department’s Bowen Center for Public Affairs, which is recognized statewide for its contributions to civic engagement, public policy research, and public management training.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching – Teach 12 hours each academic semester including undergraduate and graduate courses in public and/or nonprofit administration. Assigned time is available for community service in special projects with the Bowen Center for Public Affairs.

MPA Program Governance – Willingness to collaborate with other MPA nucleus faculty in activities related to governance and implementation of the MPA program, including learning assessment, curriculum review, and program evaluation.

Community Service – Active contribution to community service projects of the Bowen Center for Public Affairs.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in political science or public administration completed no later than August 19, 2022.

 

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

 

Preferred Qualification:

  • Teaching at the college level.
  • Teaching graduate and/or undergraduate courses in public and/or nonprofit administration.
  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate research methods.
  • Teaching undergraduate courses in state and local government, public policy, or American government.
  • Working with a university-based public policy center.
