Full-Time Assistant Shelter Manager

Job Description
Reports to: Shelter Manager
Work Location: Downtown Oakland Campus
Hours: Full-Time (4:00pm to 12:00am) Rotating weekends required
Salary Range: $25-$27/per hour
Status: Hourly; Non Exempt
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The assistant manager in conjunction with the shelter manager will be responsible for supervising all SVdP Shelter employees on a given shift (Monitors, DRSP Security Officers, Kitchen Cook, Volunteers) which will include, but not limited to the following duties.
- The assistant manager, in conjunction with the shelter manager, will be responsible for covering any staff call outs that are not filled in by the beginning of a shift.
- Acknowledge and confirm that all scheduled staff have reported to work for their assigned shift.
- Gather team for pre-shift check in meeting prior to the start of a shift.
- Assign staff work responsibilities for their shift.
- Assure that DRSP security guard check in is down at the beginning of the shift and throughout the shift.
- Responsible for making sure that staff are always professional.
- Assign staff lunch and break periods.
- Responsible for making sure staff complete incident reports of any matters taking place during their shift.
- Responsible for knowing the whereabouts of all staff assigned to a shift.
- The assistant manager is responsible for maintaining all assigned paperwork for their shift.
- Record and report all shift call outs in supervisors shift recap.
- Responsible for making sure staff are appropriately dressed and ready to work.
- The ast. manager is responsible for conducting training and professional growth work with staff throughout the week.
- The assistant manager will be responsible for overseeing all guests who enter SVdP’s shelter.
- The ast. manager is responsible for managing all guests entering the shelter facility.
- Intakes must be completed on every guest entering SVdP’s shelter nightly.
- Responsible for making sure that all guests adhere to the rules and protocols of the shelter.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the safety of staff, volunteers and guests in the shelter.
- Ast. manager will utilize harm reduction intervention and de-escalation techniques when interacting with guests.
- Ast. manager will maintain strict confidentiality of all clients’ information, except for instances mandated by law. In such cases, follow agency protocol for reporting and response.
- The ast. manager is responsible for collecting and reviewing all grievance/concerns.
Shift Duties:
- Assure that all guests are being accurately entered into Knack nightly.
- Assure that the storage area is properly cleaned and maintained at all times.
- Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and guests sleeping areas of the shelter.
- Recap sent to manager at the end of shift.
- Assist with reporting any maintenance / safety concerns,
- Maintain guest files if needed.
- Additional project or responsibilities, as needed and assigned by the shelter manager.
Administration Duties:
- Twice a week the senior lead will be responsible for making sure all new guests have had an intake and will put their information into HMIS.
- The ast. manager will be responsible for maintaining all necessary paperwork that must be maintained in the shelter binder on display for staff and guests.
- The ast. manager will be responsible for removing all guests who have been absent three days or more in a week from HMIS.
- Will maintain the storage room, assign bins, remove guest belongings when exited from the shelter, make sure all bins have guests’ names and pictures are on bins.
- The ast. manager will be responsible for running COVID testing once a week and recording results weekly.
- The ast. manager will work closely with the shelter manager and case manager to review case manager case load, review behavioral concerns of any guests, and any other pertinent information relating to shelter guests and case management.
- The ast. manager will support the shelter manager when interviewing candidates for the shelter.
- The ast. manager as part of their duties, will be responsible for working with the shelter manager to find shelter coverage for staff when they call out.

Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
