Job Summary:
Reporting to the Product Manager, the Assistant Product Manager will be a key member of the Harlequin Brand Group working specifically within the Harlequin Core Series team. The Assistant Product Manager will assist the Product Manager in the development and recommendation of creative product marketing strategies, promotions and initiatives that support the overarching strategic vision for series to increase readership, sales and profitability of assigned series brands in North America.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the publishing and marketing strategy for your product portfolio including liaising with cross-functional product development team members, omni-channel marketing teams, and marketing management teams to communicate product line health, trends, and three-to-five-year product road-maps.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develops and executes short-to-medium term product line strategy with product development team members with a focus on brand equity growth and author growth in print and digital channels for the North American market. Partners with website, social media, brand management and publicity teams to effectively position and promote product lines to consumers, promotes product lines to internal stakeholders.
• Collaborates with teams for assigned product lines to create compelling, relatable and saleable packaging for each title within each series ensuring execution on brand, on positioning and on time.
• Maintains an in-depth knowledge of editorial content and range to creatively position specific books and authors to different audience segments.
• Explores sales data and comparative market trends to provide meaningful insights and action steps to improve profitability, liaising with data science and sales teams monthly, quarterly, and annually.
• Communicates product strategy and results to all key stakeholders up to the management or VP level to secure buy-in on goals, strategy and tactics.
• Collaborates with backlist management team to maximize print and digital reissue opportunities based on market trends or author growth strategies to achieve revenue goals.
• Partners with sales team to provide effective sell-in materials for retailer meetings to achieve distribution goals.

Qualifications:
Specific training or job experience required includes:
• Marketing, Media, Communications or Business Administration graduate with a minimum of two years working experience in a product management environment.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills applicable to product strategy.
• Analytical thinker, with the ability to craft a story from data insights.
• Strong written and oral communication.
• Creative and strategic, with a solid understanding of marketing concepts.
• Team player who can take initiative and effectively guide cross-functional teams.
• A drive for results and ownership of product.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) with experience creating effective presentations in Power-Point and manipulating and graphing data within Excel.
• Effectively balances multiple priorities/deadlines with project management skills being an asset.
