Full-Time ASSISTANT COORDINATOR, EVALUATION AND TESTING

Job Description

Job Summary 

This position is primarily onsite and is responsible for assisting the Coordinator of Evaluation and Testing to ensure uniform implementation of proper testing policies and procedures.  Works with the Coordinator to assure adequate office/proctor coverage and acts as a back-up for the Make-Up Testing Center staff.

 

Essential Job Functions

Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Administers and interprets tests; advises students on next steps. Test companies include but are not limited to: ACCUPLACER, CLEP, ACT, FAA, PSI, TEAS, Pearson Vue, Scantron, Prometric/ASE, and Dental Board exams.  Maintains materials and data for these tests.
  • Assists Coordinator with duties related to testing and make-up testing.
  • Responsible for acting as back-up for Make-up Testing Center staff and performs functions of the Coordinator of Evaluation and Testing as necessary.
  • Maintains a testing environment that is friendly and supportive of all test takers and assures all tests are administered fairly and consistently.
  • Provides accurate, on-going records of the operation of the Testing Center.
  • Prepares and revises assessment report/recommendations forms, testing brochures, and web page.
  • Confers with test companies and CIS for troubleshooting.
  • Acts as liaison for placement assessments in high schools and outlying centers to include maintaining and monitoring placement assessment standards.
  • Conducts placement assessments in high schools and other campus locations when necessary.
  • Interprets individual test results and maintains database records on a daily basis according to established agreements with test providers.
  • Connects with incoming students at orientation to make them aware of the services testing has to offer.
  • Exercises professional judgment when providing student account information according to FERPA and HIPPA regulations.
  • Maintains test security at all times.
  • Delivers and secures on-line testing and paper/pencil testing.
  • Attends meetings and assists with special projects and services as assigned by the Coordinator.
  • Assists with the scheduling and proctoring of accommodated testing for students needing accommodations.
  • Collaborates with the Student Accessibility Services Coordinator as needed.
  • Ability to work evenings and occasional Saturdays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or will obtain a bachelors degree within 3 months from date of hire.
  • Successfully complete proctor certifications or approvals as required by test providers within 6 months from date of hire.
  • Must pass/meet compliance requirements, such as background checks, etc. to administer all offered assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to administer and interpret various assessment tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow complex oral and written directions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite programs as well as ability to learn various other software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical problems and communicate with CIS and tech support for testing companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and access a variety of computer-based testing programs.
  • Demonstrated dedication to work assignments and exceptional quality of work.
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit professional judgment, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills, attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups, faculty, staff, students, and community members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Working in postsecondary education.
  • Experience with testing/assessments.

 

Employment Status

Full time, exempt position with comprehensive benefits program, including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance, a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expenses; personal and sick leave; tuition reimbursement; and a choice of retirement programs—IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution). Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience. Anticipated hours will be flexible including evenings and weekends.

 

Working Conditions

Requires skills for succeeding in an office environment, using technology. Requires good hand-eye

coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Work is performed in an office setting. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours. During the course of the day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computers.
