As the Assistant Center Director, you will support the center director at the YMCA Early Learning Center (ELC) year-round to serve our community with a variety of programmatic and activity options to explore, develop interests, and talents with a focus on safety, health, social growth, and academic enhancement so that children have fun, grow and thrive in our care. You will help in providing balanced recreation, education and character development through enriched activities full of fun and friendship.

If hired for this position you will be responsible to plan, organize, implement, coordinate, and control services of the child care program at the Early Learning Center. You will provide leadership and direction for ELC and children, ensure positive communication with parents, children, schools and other staff, practice risk management, and develop positive community relations.

Are you a good fit?
  • You are at least 21 years old.
  • You have two years of experience as a teacher of children in any age group enrolled in the early learning program.
  • You have at least 6 months of experience in administration or management.
  • You have 45 or more college quarter credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, and Elementary Education or the equivalent educational background in courses relating to early learning or child development.
  • You are able to provide and manage a high quality program experience and coach others to do so.
  • You enjoy working with children and diverse populations.
  • You have or commit to obtaining CPR, Basic First Aid, Food Handlers, TB test, Child Care Basic STARS, proof of MMR vaccine, and Merit account.
  • You have reliable transportation and the ability to support at all sites across Pierce and Kitsap County, as needed.
  • You want to have fun and inspire creativity at work!

Starting Wage: $21.50+ per hour, depending on qualifications

Hours:  Full-Time, 40 hours per week
