Full-Time Assistant/Associate Director of Annual and Leadership Giving

Job Description

Lafayette College offers an outstanding opportunity for a motivated and driven individual to become part of an accomplished alumni engagement and annual giving team. The Assistant/Associate Director of Annual and Leadership Giving assists in raising critical philanthropic resources to help Lafayette meet its ambitious annual fundraising goals as well as deepen the relationship between alumni and their alma mater. This position is responsible for the qualification, cultivation and solicitation of leadership gifts from Lafayette alumni, with a focus on athletics fundraising and reunion giving. The Assistant/Associate Director must actively seek out opportunities, both on and off- campus, to develop and implement initiatives to ensure a strong base of high-level philanthropic support. This position, as a result of the recently launched alumni and parent engagement multi-year plan, will join a newly integrated team of high-achieving alumni engagement and annual giving professionals.

Primary Responsibilities
●     Collaborate with the Annual and Leadership Giving team on a balanced visit and outreach strategy that retains current and re-engages lapsed donors, grows giving levels of current donors, and increases unrestricted giving to the campus.

●     Manage and solicit an assigned prospect and volunteer portfolio of approx. 250 prospects to increase annual fund dollars, participation, and meet or exceed division fundraising solicitation goals.

●     Qualify new prospects, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors. Develop prospect relationships around donor interests and College priorities.

●     Partner with the Director of Development for Athletics/Executive Director of the Maroon Club to engage sport specific initiatives and accomplish annual Maroon Club fundraising goals. This position will need to work with coaches and athletic staff on fundraising and engagement goals and strategies.

●     Manage the reunion/class giving program including volunteer engagement and training, establishing annual reunion fundraising goals, and performing direct solicitation.

●     Partner with the Alumni Engagement team for an integrated and strategic approach to all Reunion efforts (including communications and programming).

●     Utilize the Division’s CRM system for prospect and volunteer management, report generation, contact report sharing, and data analysis.

●     Form collaborative partnerships with gift officers, division staff, faculty, and other members of the Lafayette community to create opportunities for increased philanthropic support from constituents.

●     Provide necessary documentation and follow-up to donors, volunteers & internal contacts.

●     Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

●     Evening and weekend work, as well as travel required, in support of College priorities and events.

Minimum Qualifications
●     Bachelor’s Degree required

●     A minimum of one to three years of development, alumni relations, volunteer engagement/management and/or equivalent experience, with annual fund/giving experience preferred.

●     Possess well developed listening, written, and interpersonal skills with a creative mindset.

●     Strong proficiency in various forms of technology including Microsoft Office and Google Suite

●     Experience working with large databases and capability to perform detailed data analyses.

●     Ability to communicate with volunteers/prospects/donors/colleagues effectively and efficiently through direct face-to-face and remote via technology.

●     A high level of energy and a team orientation.

●     Ability and willingness to take initiative and a sense of humor are essential.

●     Ability and willingness to work some nights and weekends as well as conduct local and overnight travel.
