Job Description
What will you be doing?
Your responsibilities as an integral part of the frog Places, Architecture and Experience Design practice will be to assist in the development of key experience moments and their subsequent translation at the intersection of digital, physical and Architecture across a variety of projects. This includes contributions to project in various phases of development — from ideation and the development of concepts, to developing the site, building, and potentially even urban design strategies, to schematic design and beyond. Storytelling is at the root of our work and strong representational work is key, so we’d love to see your experience in a variety of visual representation, from sketches to drawings, renderings, illustration, animation and/or motion.
Project teams rely on Architectural Designers to:
- Bridge the gap between research insights and tangible concepts
- Holistic and systemic thinking around crafting comprehensive and intentional experiences through Architecture
- Super advanced ideation skills, lateral thinking and a solution-based user experience perspective
- Strong interest in the convergent creative disciplines represented at frog
- Ability to share the sand-box and build the best castle
- Provide project and client support while managing your time effectively
- Be fully engaged and demonstrate 100% project participation
We want you to have:
- Recently completed, or will complete within 1 year, a University degree or Masters in Architecture
- A robust practical and theoretical grounding in architecture theory and practice through your studies
- Well-developed core design skills, demonstrated in your portfolio of recent work
- Willingness to quickly learn and grow your design skills on the job
- Ability to present and clearly explain your work to others
- Experience collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams
- Proficiency with contemporary design and prototyping tools and methods
- Affinity with frog’s values, and a passion for creating products that meet peoples’ functional and emotional needs
- Willingness to draw and sketch with pencil, pen, and potentially mixed media
- Experience with physical model-making
- Knowledge of Adobe Suite, and computer drawing and modelling software (Revit or AutoCAD, Rhino or Sketchup)
- Business level ability in English
- Basic CAD skills (Revit or AutoCAD, Rhino or Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite
It would be a bonus if you had:
- Experience as an architect working in a non-traditional and/or interdisciplinary practice (start-up, corporate, agency/consultancy)
- Academic, professional, or life experience from outside the design field that enriches your perspective as a designer
- Additional software knowledge or capabilities (advanced rendering, animation, or video editing)
The Internship:
As a Places Intern, you will support teams on client-facing and internal projects. You will learn by doing, with guidance from experienced practitioners, who will help you understand and deliver the interaction design activities assigned to you, in the context of interdisciplinary projects. Interns have the same opportunities to contribute to our teams as our full-time employees do, and work on active programs with project teams. The summer internships are paid and run for 10 weeks.
