Who we are

We are the Air Operations Center (AOC) Weapon System (WS) 10.1 Program Management Office (PMO).  We engineer, integrate, test, field, and maintain an evolving weapon system comprised of approximately 100 major subsystems consisting of a variety of commercial off the shelf and government communications and electronics equipment.  The AOC WS provides command and control capabilities for joint and combined forces at AOC locations across the globe.  We support warfighters that need access to information and capability today.  A key functional component of the AOC 10.1 PMO is the Configuration Management (CM) team, who oversees and manages all aspects of CM for the AOC enterprise.

The Position

We are looking for a versatile, organized, and hard-working Configuration Manager to support the AOC 10.1 Weapon System (WS) leading a CM team of approximately 16 professionals.  The AOC 10.1 CM team leads multiple CM teams and functions, manages and documents product releases for the WS baseline, maintains AOC PMO documentation, directly supports AOC sites with hardware and software asset-tracking and WS variance processing, oversees conducting of CM site assessments, oversees enterprise CM training, leads the enterprise annual CM working group.

What You Will Do

As Configuration Manager Lead, you will carryout and/or oversee the following:

  • Apply CM Industry Standard SAE EIA-649C Principles
  • Process management:
    • Develop and maintain processes and policies for all AOC Business Processes (ABP), Plans, and Charters
    • Manages release approvals through review boards and other stakeholders
    • Build, assign, and track Enterprise Change Notices (ECN) and Work Authorizations (WA)
    • Facilitates the Engineering Change Working Group (ECWG), Enterprise Management Review (EMR), and Change Review Board (CRB) forums
    • Maintains installation status charts
    • DI2E documentation posting and control
    • DI2E administration support
  • Directly provide CM support to AOC sites:
    • Assist with site hardware and software asset tracking
    • Facilitate Request for Variance (RFV) process
    • Perform site hardware and software baseline audits
  • Production Center CM:
    • Release baseline management
    • Product release and delivery (media prep, shipping prep, data markings, etc.)
    • Release media library management
    • Support PC product transfers
    • COTS/GOTS/FOSS product control
    • Software license distribution to sites
    • Software List updates
  • Production Center Tech Writers:
    • Documentation management and release preparation
    • Technical documentation redline process management
    • Fielding documentation management and release
    • Fielding status accounting support
    • Intelink/SharePoint documentation posting and control
    • Intelink/SharePoint administration support
  • Conduct site assessment on several areas:
    • CM Processes/CM Site Baseline Documentation
    • Cybersecurity
    • Logistics & Sustainment
    • Training
    • Engineering
    • Radio and Data Links
    • Provide findings, observations, and recommendations to improve site AOC WS operations to site leadership, ACC, and AOC PMO leadership
  • Leads the DI2E Governance Board
  • Host Annual CM Working Group (CMWG)
    • CMWG provides a forum for discussion on issues that may have direct and/or indirect impact on CM and change control of the AOC WS
    • Provide recommendations on CM policy to AOC WS boards, working groups and/or other supporting organizations
    • Support AOC WS Program Managers in capturing and documenting new CM requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

  • You are able to travel if needed and maintain a valid passport.
  • You are a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain at a minimum a Secret-level U.S. Security Clearance.

This is a Federal civilian service position within the United States Air Force. We are hiring at the equivalent of a GS-12 up to GS-13 level for this position. This means you can expect a base salary of $66,829 to $103,309 multiplied by your locality rate, based on your experience. You can find your locality definition here and see the pay tables for the GS scale here. Our headquarters is located in Boston, MA; for a Boston-based employee, this would translate to a range from $86,283 to $133,382.
