DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for a talented Aftertreatment Controls Research – Technical Specialist to join our team! This position is primarily based in Columbus, Indiana.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
• This position will focus on aftertreatment controls and diagnostic system development for a wide range of architectures for future internal combustion engines, and hybrid/electric powertrains applications to meet future legislative and customer driven requirements.
• The role will be responsible in proposing and evaluating technology concepts, control and diagnostic system development, and vehicle integration for technology demonstration and development, as well as sensing technologies and diagnostics.
• The role will also be responsible for software/electronics requirements definition and documentations for future products.
• The role will involve rapid prototyping and testing support. Hands-on experience with system testing is preferred.
• Successful candidates will have working experience in developing algorithms and controls-related tools and working knowledge of embedded software design, mechatronics, electrical system design and performance simulations.
• This role will work with cross-functional and cross-BU development teams. Strong communication skills and project management experience is desired.
Design and Application of Mechatronics Systems – Specifies electronic hardware and interconnections that measure and control systems; applies electronic hardware and interconnections in products.
Product Problem Solving – Solves product problems using a process that protects the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; and identifies the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.
Product Verification and Validation Management – Coordinates the development of design verification and system validation plans from a variety of inputs to identify failure modes while managing risk and relative priority; evaluates analytical and experimental test results following engineering principles to verify that products meet internal technical requirements and to validate that design solutions meet customer needs; produces recommendations with technical documentation to support product decisions.
System Requirements Engineering – Uses appropriate methods and tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements to which designs are developed; establishes acceptance criteria for the system of interest through analysis, allocation and negotiation; tracks the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle; assesses the impact of changes to system requirements on project scope, schedule, and resources; creates and maintains information linkages to related artifacts.
Systems Thinking – Defines the system of interest by drawing the boundaries, identifying its context within its environment, its interfaces, and that it has a lifecycle to aid in planning the problem statement, scope and deliverables ; analyzes linkages and interactions between elements that comprise the system of interest by using appropriate methods, models and integration of outcomes to understand the system, predict its behavior and devise modifications to it in order to produce the desired effects.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
• College, university, or equivalent Master’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.
• Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
• PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering in Controls system domain with 2+ years related experience
• M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering in Controls system domain with 5+ years related experience
