Commercial Line P& C Actuarial Analyst

About the role

HDI Global Insurance is searching for an actuarial analyst who will play an active role in achieving profitability in support of commercial lines of business.  This role will make use of solid analytical, project management and communication skills.

The individual will analyze data, develop recommendations and provide business insights.  They will perform various types of actuarial analyses and special projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Underwriting and Claims to understand impacts of initiatives, book of business mix shifts and external environment changes for the purpose of incorporation into reserve analyses.
  • Perform quarterly reserve reviews for assigned LoB/programs to ensure that adequate reserves are recorded and correctly reported at each quarter-end.
  • Develop and deliver analysis findings to stakeholders such that key drivers of results are understood, and appropriate business decisions are made based on those findings.
  • Develop and improve pricing models that aligned to internal pricing guidelines.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of methods and activities.
  • Develop effective tools for monitoring internal and external indications.
  • Build and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Manage ad hoc projects, collaborating with team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in the quantitative field of study.
  • 1+ years of actuarial experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Expertise in MS Excel working with formulas, calculations, charts, graphs.
  • Ability to quickly learn and use computer software tools.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of business partners.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in property & casualty industry.
  • Experience in coding in R, VBA and/or SQL.
