Essential Functions and Objectives:
Administers and manages activities within a specific area of a responsibility. Serves as the subject matter expert and applies gained knowledge to execute, maintain and improve systems, programs, or processes.
Responsible for the implementation of a District vision for Culturally Responsive Education (CRE) and Transformative Social Emotional Academic Learning (TSEAL), including the development of high-quality resources and professional learning and communication across central office teams and networks. Provides coaching and support to central departments in developing professional learning to ensure course objectives and content infuse District vision for TSEAL and CRE. Collaborates within department to provide thought partnership in infusing Culturally Responsive Education with social emotional skill building practices in the development of curricular resources and content-specific coaching of educators across the District. To raise achievement among all students.
– Provides various support and conducts activities related to logistics, reporting, training, communications, and processes. Participates in the planning and implementation of SEL curriculum.
– Assesses and troubleshoots escalated problems and applies expert understanding to resolve complex challenges of stakeholders; focuses on root cause identification in order to achieve systemic and sustainable improvement. Approves and documents exceptions for compliance record keeping and reporting.
– Ensures appropriate key stakeholder involvement in planning, goal-setting, and implementation to achieve buy-in of work products. Ensures purposeful, positive and professional interactions and relationships with all stakeholders; enables consistent application of work products across the district.
– Identifies opportunities for improvement, prioritizes, and recommends solutions to management. Implements approved enhancements to ensure consistency across the district. identifies opportunities to reduce costs; analyzes available data, trends, and feedback, and ensures compliance with expectations for optimal operation and goal achievement.
– Cultivates a deep understanding of and investment in Transformative Social Emotional Academic Learning and Culturally Responsive Education (CRE) practices with key stakeholders (e.g. school leaders, teacher leaders, teachers) across the District in support of equity for all students, infusing best practices in Social Emotional Academic Learning (SEAL) and Personalized Learning (PL).
– Supports development and implementation of aligned approach to CRE, SEAL, and personalized learning.
– Partners and collaborates with central departments to embed CRE practices in professional learning opportunities.
– Develops and facilitates professional learning for central departments, regional teams, school leaders, teacher leaders, and teachers to integrate culturally responsive teaching practices.
– Applies instructional expertise and a deep understanding of TSEAL and CRE to improving the effectiveness of core curriculum and instruction in District schools, specifically including implementation of the Colorado Academic Standards, which are inclusive of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
– Fosters continuous, collaborative interaction with cross-functional teams through discussion and directed inquiry around professional practice and CRE, TSEAL, and PL.
– Collects and analyzes qualitative and quantitative data on TSEAL and CRE resources and professional learning to continuously improve CRE strategy.
– Understanding of Multilingual Education and best practices.
– Knowledge and understanding of k-12 best teaching practices and curriculum planning.
Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
– Three (3) or more years of experience with leading professional learning or programs focused on Social Emotional Academic Learning, inclusion, diversity, equity, and instruction, helping others develop cultural literacy.
– Three (3) or more years of experience teaching in an urban center.
– Experience with professional coaching preferred.
– Teacher license preferred.
– Proficiency with Google Suite.
– Effective time management and organizational skills.
– Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
– Strong attention to detail.
– Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines in a fast paced environment.
– The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.
– Ability to work as a member of a team in a collaborative, influential capacity.
– Strong interest in researching and infusing CRE best practices into professional development for educators in all roles.
– Comfort and experience in working with diverse learning.
– Cultural sensitivity with familiarity in establishing inclusion.
– Capacity and responsibility to be culturally responsive with an affirmative attitude toward cultural difference.
– Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching theory, research and practice and an understanding of the social, cultural, and historical context of educational inequity.
Education Requirements:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Equity, CRE, or other related field required.
– Master’s Degree is preferred.
