Salary Range: $58,192-$70,513

Essential Functions and Objectives:

This role maximizes the positive impact that improvement planning can have on student learning in Denver Public Schools (DPS). The specialist achieves this goal by pursuing the following objectives: Provide guidance and support to district leadership, network staff, and school leadership regarding the development of Unified Improvement Plans (UIPs) which meet high quality criteria standards. Work closely with the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) to understand state and federal accountability requirements, as well as each school’s unique accountability and program requirements.

– Demonstrates DPS core values.

– Supports UIP quality improvement efforts. This includes delivering intensive support to network and school staff, providing timely feedback, and the developing guidance materials.

– Coordinates the submission of Unified Improvement Plans (UIPs) with district, network, and school leadership. This includes online system management, adherence to state and federal requirements, collaborating with the CDE, and the development of an annual UIP calendar/cycle.

– Uses appropriate software tools (e.g. spreadsheets, databases, and statistical packages) to conduct analyses, develop reports, and fulfill internal data requests; and assists with the dissemination of findings to inform accountability-related policy decisions.

– Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of school UIPs to assess patterns, and to inform accountability-related policy decisions.

– Promoting Continuous Learning. Delivering High Performing Teams. Building a Culture of Positivity.

– Develops and presents a variety of dynamic training and staff development sessions for district and school leadership to inform district policies and practices. This includes informing schools’ use of the School Performance Framework (SPF) and UIP to inform school performance and planning.

– Supports other members of the Accountability team. This includes assisting with the state and district SPFs and their implications on Accountability Clock, School Reviews, Request to Reconsider, etc.

– Actively listens to diverse points of view and demonstrates respect for all individuals.

– Other Duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

– 3+ years of work related experience.

– Proficiency in accessing and manipulating data as well as fluency with one or more of the following applications: Excel, Access, SPSS, SAS.

– Strong organizational and analytic skills and strong attention to detail.

– Ability to communicate diplomatically, persuasively, effective oral, written and presentation skills.

– Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with district and school leaders, faculty, staff and students.

– Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work with individuals at all different levels in the organization.

– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

– Experience working in academic settings preferred.

– Knowledge of statistical analysis and strong mathematical aptitude.

Education Requirements:

– Bachelor’s Degree in education, research or other related areas.
