Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum – http://www.desertmuseum.org/
Founded in 1952, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a non-profit institution dedicated to conservation and research of the Sonoran Desert region while continuing its on-gong mission to inspire people to live in harmony with the natural world by fostering love, appreciation, and understanding of the Sonoran Desert. Not a “museum” in the usual sense, it is an unparalleled composite of plant, animal, and geologic collections with the goal of making the Sonoran Desert accessible, understandable, and valued.
Located in Tucson, just outside of Saguaro National Park (West), the Desert Museum is a fusion experience zoo, botanical garden, natural history museum, aquarium, and research institute. We are recognized throughout the world as a model institution for innovative presentation and interpretation of native plants and animals featured together in ecological exhibits. The American Zoo & Aquarium Association has recognized the Desert Museum for over 25 years of continuous accreditation.
