Starting salary for this position starts at $34,968/year. Actual salary may vary depending on experience.
CLASS SUMMARY:
This is the second of four levels in the Golf Course Maintenance series. Incumbents coordinate and participate in the maintenance of a golf course. Responsibilities may include prioritizing and assigning tasks; mowing and maintaining greens and fairways; determining the location of holes and tee markers; applying herbicide and pesticide, and maintaining records of grounds keeping activities.
- Prioritizes and assigns work to lower-level staff; monitors the performance of lower-level staff, and trains staff on work methods and procedures.
- Performs general course maintenance duties including maintaining the course’s visual appearance which may include trimming, mowing, and trash pickup; assisting in determining the course’s playability; determining the location of tee markers, and additional maintenance projects as requested.
- Performs course repair and course preservation duties including applying pesticides and fertilizers, tending to course areas requiring special maintenance, irrigation repair, and other related activities.
- Operates and maintains a variety of equipment, which includes performing routine preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Prepares a variety of operational reports and/or records.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and five years experience in golf course maintenance; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Licensing Requirements:
- Driver’s License

- Computers and related software applications.

- Communication, interpersonal skills, as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Incumbents may be subjected to fumes, odors, dusts, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, and travel.
