JOB FAMILY DESCRIPTION

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is responsible for the automation of infrastructure and operations, primarily focused on the Windows operating system. Incorporates software engineering to solve infrastructure problems and automate manual tasks. The SRE is passionate about improving products and systems through code such as C# and logic.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides automation for human labor.
  • Write, ship, and motivate the automation of systems to increase organizational efficiency and product reliability.
  • Defines and discerns key aspects of problems that require analysis and research, and develops an integrated solution within a broad technical and business context of significant or strategic impact to the enterprise.
  • Creates a bridge between development and operations.
  • Researches, evaluates and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and tools to better automate infrastructure.
  • Self-automates daily tasks to eliminate time delays for change functions.
  • Modifies, installs and prepares technical documentation for system software applications.
  • Improves availability of products, tools and internal services then provides problem resolution and support as needed.
  • Identifies issues and leads improvements for systems performance and scalability.
  • Improves service reliability through root cause analysis and uses code to either prevent or respond to problem recurrence.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with other teams, leaders, and change management.
  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL GUIDELINES

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Experience with C# required
  • Experience of Windows Operating Systems required
  • Experience with writing code such as Java, Python, Perl, Shell, or a similar language a plus
  • Knowledge of network technologies (e.g., load balancers, firewalls, network and routing protocols, DNS)
  • Experience building and/or supporting .NET / C# applications such as web sites, Windows services, Windows Form and Console applications
  • Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and AIX operating systems a plus
  • Understands application resiliency, scaling, availability, and improve reliability of products
  • Ability to automate routine tasks, debug and optimize code
  • Knowledge of AWS, Azure or GCP a plus
  • Understanding of cloud-based service models (e.g PaaS, IaaS, SaaS) a plus
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to develop partnership-oriented relationships with business executives and functional leaders, especially as it relates to operations and technology
  • Must be a self-starter and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment with focus on timeliness, documentation, and communications with peers and business users alike
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels within Black Knight or outside the organization (executives, regulators, clients, etc.)
  • Results oriented, business focused, and successful at interfacing across multiple organizational units

JOB FAMILY LEVEL

Lead/expert level role. Serves as a lead for the analysis, development, modification, installation, testing and maintenance of operating systems software that is significant or strategic to the enterprise. Works on varied, highly complex tasks, projects, activities or support issues that require expertise in multiple technical environments, specific business area(s) and multiple significant or strategic products/systems. Recognized as an expert internally and often provides strategic direction, guidance and integration of products and services. Develops solutions requiring analysis and research. Works on multiple projects, products and activities as a project team member or often as a project leader or subject matter expert. May coach and/or mentor more junior technical staff. Typically requires eight (8) years of experience in systems administration and programming.
