ORGANIZATION
Issue One is a nonpartisan, nonprofit advocacy organization that is uniting Republicans, Democrats, and independents in the movement for political reform. Issue One’s ReFormers Caucus of more than 200 former members of Congress, governors, and Cabinet officials is the largest bipartisan coalition of its kind ever assembled to advocate for solutions to strengthen our democracy. Issue One is building a multi-year initiative to win game-changing federal legislation that gets big money out of politics and fixes our broken political system.
POSITION
Issue One seeks a focused and productive Special Projects Coordinator. Their duties will include, but are not limited to, the execution, development, and professional planning of special public-facing projects and events to elevate democracy-reform efforts. They will report directly to the CEO and COO.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement advocacy and outreach strategies in concert with programmatic activities
- Oversee, manage, and communicate the status of creative initiatives and/or projects to the Issue One team and stakeholders
- Through the use of established project management tools, maintain project schedules, project summaries and other relevant project documentation with input from team members.
- Plan and manage virtual and in-person events
- Create and manage project timelines, including marketing campaigns and overseeing partner and team deadlines
- Conduct research and develop informational memos for the CEO
- Draft talking points, op-eds, letters, and memos for internal and external use
- Interface with other CEOs, executive directors and high-level government officials
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- At least 1 year of relevant experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal – ability to communicate clearly and to distill complex information in a clear and concise manner for team members and stakeholders
- Experience in project management
- Balancing immediate and short term needs and delivering results
- Highly efficient and detail-oriented with time management skills
- Experience interfacing with high-level external partners
Location
This will be a part-time, temporary position. Flexible hours available. It will temporarily be remote due to COVID-19, but the employee will be expected to be in the D.C. area once the office reopens.
Salary Range
$21-$25/hour. Between 16- 20 hours of work per week
