Salary Range: $70,079-$87,599
Essential Functions and Objectives:
Provide expertise and leadership to the ELA Department , central office teams, and schools in the areas of secondary ELA Program design and development, including best instructional practices, and effective program implementation. Oversees professional development, resource coordination, and strategic implementation of secondary ELA Programs. Manages and supports activities related to the effective implementation of the Language Allocation Guidelines, ELD and ICLD instructional guidance, the training and coordination of teachers, leaders, and ILTs, and coordination & integration with district structures and priorities. Establishes effective reporting infrastructure and regularly measures progress toward program goals, including student achievement outcomes. May direct and oversee the administration of multiple initiatives and team members.
– Leads, oversees and coordinates Secondary ELA Program design and development, including bilingual, ELD and ICLD instructional practices, effective implementation & ongoing support.
– Supervises ELA professional development coordination & implementation for secondary ELA Programs.
– Leads coordination & integration with district structures and priorities for secondary schools.
– Manages professional development and ELA Programming guidance for Secondary ELA Programs.
– Curates and shares information regarding ELA Programs, legal requirements, and instructional expertise in serving ELs.
– Collaborate with ELA and Central Office staff to support effective program design, development, and implementation.
– Act as a spokesperson on behalf of the ELA Department and a resource expert to all DPS staff on ELA program requirements and state and federal program requirements.
– Communicate orally and in writing.
– Respond in a professional manner with timely and accurate information.
– Participate in the development of long-term ELA strategic planning.
– Support the preparation and analysis of required reports to state agencies, the Board of Education, U.S. District Court and other agencies.
– Assist and advise the department in its legal duties/requirements specific to the Modified Consent Decree.
– Serve as department liaison to internal and external counsel.
– Perform all managerial duties; staff, train, delegate and evaluate the work of others.
– Demonstrate cost consciousness and operational efficiency while performing the duties of this position.
– Perform other related duties as assigned and/or requested.
Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
– K-12 teaching experience with large populations of English Learners.
– Valid Colorado Driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage and an acceptable driving record for the past three years.
– Culturally and/or Linguistically Diverse Endorsement preferable.
– Excellent organizational skills.
– Demonstrated effective English language oral and written communication skills.
– Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with other professional staff on instructional improvement issues.
– Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Drive products preferred.
– Knowledge of state and federal ELA program requirements.
– Bilingual preferred.
Education Requirements:
– Master’s Degree in the field of Education.
