Full-Time Director, Application Development

Job Description

SMUD is pleased to announce the pursuit of our next Director, Application Development. We are seeking an experienced technical leader to work closely with key business partners and colleagues enterprise-wide to mesh technology and processes into tangible automated solutions. Your technical and people-skills will be your best asset as you bridge the technical and business gap.
As the Director of Application Development, your primary focus will be to leverage IT best practices, methodologies, standards, and guiding principles to meet development and support needs for business applications and infrastructure, including SAP  (including ECC 6.0 (FI, CO, TR, HR, MM, PM, IS-Utilities), CRM, Ariba, Concur, GIS (G/Technology and ESRI), ECM (Documentum and SharePoint), Itron IEE, DRMS (SeeLOAD).

Purpose

The multifaceted measures of your success in this position will be tied to your performance in on- time/on-budget system implementation, reuse of technical capabilities, scalability & performance of systems, and security of solutions. You will provide leadership to a team of 100 + administrators, and managers serving as the resident authority that guides the selection, design, and deployment of solutions to run the business across functional areas.

In addition to a competitive total rewards package, SMUD is pleased to offer an annual salary of up to $233,844.

Provides strategic input on SMUD-wide systems/applications, architecture, implementation timing and approach with a focus on enterprise systems & platforms centricity; participates in the establishment of long term strategies, direction, and plans, for all SMUD-wide process improvements
•Responsible for managing all aspects of systems acquisition, installation, maintenance, training, programming, support and utilization of complex business applications; information processing; long-term and short-term range planning for key future information technology services such as enhanced Web applications, project integration, and internal applications and systems improvements.
•Contribute to ensuring effective system utilization by informing users at all position levels about new technological advances, application upgrades, and new methods and procedures. Ensure maximum possible application/system availability by establishing and maintaining comprehensive and effective maintenance and upgrade schedules.
•Work with executives, colleagues, and staff to develop, implement, information technology policies, procedures and processes. Work with managers to guide and direct the work of professional and technical staff performing full range of mission critical information services work.
•Negotiate and administer contracts, including monitoring compliance, for a variety of consulting, maintenance, and technical services contracts.
•Provides leadership, direction, goal setting and planning roles for variety of information technology initiatives by determining system requirements, preparing and presenting cost/benefit analyses, and making recommendations.
•Work with managers and staff to develop and maintain high levels of customer service, professionalism, individual skills, and effective team approaches to work goals and monitor progress.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience
A BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university, majoring in Computer Technology, MIS, Engineering, Management or Business Administration. Progressively responsible managerial experience in large, complex technology environments including integrated enterprise systems with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
Experience providing effective management in a remote environment of a diverse technology work force, including consultants and contractors.
Experience in the Utility industry in Enterprise Resource Planning, Architecture Integration, Customer Facing Applications, Application Integration, and Project management/Agile methodology is preferred.
