We are looking for a talented Industrial Engineer VPI to join our team specializing in Cummins Engine Business Segment in Columbus, IN.

 

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

* Assists with the design, improvement, and installation of integrated manufacturing or administrative systems which use people, materials, information, equipment, and energy.

* Assists with the creation of standard work methods for new and current production lines.

* Assists with the design of safe and efficient work stations for manufacturing environments, using plant layout, ergonomic, and work station design principles.

* Assists with cost analysis on make vs. buy decisions for component or sub-assemblies.

Process Documentation – Produces written manufacturing procedures in proper sequence which are followed correctly by all approved stakeholders to establish continuity in processes and standardization.

 

Process Layout – Creates and/or modifies an optimized manufacturing process by incorporating knowledge of equipment, human interfaces, sequences of production steps, and facilities requirements in order to reduce process time and waste.

 

Health and Safety Fundamentals – Champions and models proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting and participating in actions to improve health and safety in order to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an injury-free workplace.

 

Process Simulation – Develops virtual models of processes using available tools and quantitative analyses techniques to optimize these processes and make effective business decisions.

 

Work Measurement – Quantifies and evaluates the elements of work that make up a process by breaking it down into detailed steps to identify and reduce waste, and redistribute work content to optimize process flows.

 

Workstation Design – Designs operator work stations that are safe, healthy, and ergonomic while accounting for cost, quality, and delivery to contribute to an efficient work environment.

 

Education, Licenses, Certifications

 

University, or equivalent degree required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

 

Experience

* Relevant work experience (3 plus years) required.

This position will play a key role in working with new VPI programs at CMEP.

* The role will work cross functionally with ME, Quality, Materials and Operations to support new products and programs.

* Additionally, this role will support line balancing projects and continuous improvement projects throughout the Assembly and Blockline functions.
