Full-Time Compliance Caseworker – Leeds
Job Description
We’re looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals with a passion for learning, and an ambition to develop strong analytical and investigatory careers. If you have a craving for varied and challenging work, as part of a diverse team and organisation, helping to challenge, prevent, and correct customer tax evasion and non-compliance – this role is for you!
HMRC is one of Europe’s leading tax authorities, and is the institution responsible for funding the entirety of the UK’s public services. As a Compliance Caseworker, you need to embody HMRC’s values: Innovation, Integrity, Professionalism, and Respect.
So, what does being a Compliance Caseworker involve?
You’ll be working in HMRC’s Enforcement and Compliance office. Using an investigative approach to establish facts, you’ll carry-out quality compliance checks to cast a light on the dishonest minority cheating the system. Looking into the tax affairs of customers, big and small, from multinational companies to individual citizens, you’ll be reviewing, analysing, and interrogating customer data, records, and case files. As an agent of HMRC, you’ll also be responsible for helping customers understand the importance of paying the correct tax to prevent future evasion and non-compliance.
Good communication skills are also essential, to facilitate both strong team-working and stakeholder engagement, and to handle confrontational situations. Don’t worry though, we offer full support in such circumstances, enabling you to successfully navigate towards your targets. If you enjoy travel and don’t like being cooped up in the office, some roles may also necessitate traveling to a variety of places. (See candidate pack for details).
They’re called Tax Professionals for a reason– because they’re the capable experts equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to produce high quality and hard hitting results. At HMRC, through taking and passing our Tax Professional Learning Products, we arm all of our new recruits with the extensive training and support needed to achieve this title. And you could be next!
