DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for a talented Mechanical Lead – Fuel Cell Platform to join our team specializing in hydrogen fuel cell power systems technology for our #NewPower Business Unit in Mississauga, Ontario.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
• Oversees overall mechanical and process system design for rail-based fuel cell systems, including component selection, and mechanical integration.
• Responsible for and oversees validation of key mechanical sub-components.
• Lead mechanical engineering team responsible for hydrogen, air, and thermal balance of plant development including process design of fluid and gas flow, process control subsystems, electromechanical component selection and validation, component layout, development of operational and control strategies, and design compliance to applicable standards.
• Responsible for ensuring the selection and integration of components meet key product requirements of functionality, reliability, cost, safety/certifications, maintainability, and packaging/layout.
• Interfaces with the CAD team to ensure successful implementation of all design aspects.
• Participates in, and resolves challenges in overall system validation – mechanical, process, and thermal.
• Take higher level product requirements in terms of thermal performance, mass, acoustic noise, fatigue, and principles of dynamics and vibration and lead mechanical engineering team to a successful product design.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
• Bachelor’s in mechanical or Systems Engineering, Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 10 years experience in a design-focused role, with managerial progression.
• Strong leadership experience working with groups of mechanical design engineers in meeting overall product expectations and requirements.
• Automotive or railway design experience is highly desirable.
• Experience in simulation (FEA, CFD, modal analysis, system response modeling) highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge in application of the following principles as the pertain to design like principles of fatigue and durability, principles of noise and acoustics, principles of dynamics and vibration, principles of heat rejection and thermodynamics, principles of fluid dynamics.
• Experience with Solid Edge, CFD, FEA, or similar mechanical design tools is an asset.
