About the role
As an Embedded Software Quality Engineer at Tile, you will work closely with strategic partners and the Tile team to guide the quality of the latest hardware – including Tile’s own products as well as devices with embedded Tile technology – Bluetooth audio headsets, PC laptops, and more.  You will perform hands-on testing and communicate results in the form of bugs and quality reports. You will also be responsible for building and maintaining our certification test plans. You will have the opportunity to work directly with some of the largest brands in the industry.  This an exciting opportunity to be exposed to a broad variety of cutting-edge consumer electronics products.

Responsibilities

    • Ensure the quality of Tile hardware and Tile embedded partnerships products.
    • Develop, maintain and run a Tile certification program, including executing and developing test plans and test documentation.
    • Document and analyze test results and work with firmware and hardware engineers to identify root causes.
    • Run an internal dogfooding and beta program for Tile hardware and partner products.
    • Is on point to debug and solve emerging issues with Tile and 3rd party hardware products.
    • Perform functional testing (or any required testing methodology) for new features as they are developed.
    • Works within the firmware, hardware, and mobile teams to assist in testing and environment set up as directed. Capable to install debugging tools, configure systems and products to execute required tasks.
    • Specifies and potentially contributes to develop test automation systems.

Requirements

    • Willing to work on-site in our San Mateo office (once COVID passes).
    • A mindset focused on product quality.
    • 3+ years of experience in Consumer Electronics product testing (black box, functional, smoke, performance, system integration, regression).
    • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks.
    • Proficiency with engineering toolkit, including: issue tracker such as JIRA; CI tools (Jenkins, Bamboo etc); source control system (Git).
    • Great communication skills
    • Familiar with Bluetooth layer testing and tools is a plus.
    • Some experience of coding (any language) and motivation to learn is a plus (test automation).
