The Uncommon Goods Product Development team designs and develops unique and exclusive products. We are a team of 6 consisting of friendly, hard-working, big thinking designers and production managers who have a strong entrepreneurial spirit. We have a directory of external designers and manufacturers who we collaborate with to create and manufacturer new products. Additionally, we create highly personalized gifts for our customers offering them a unique shopping experience. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an intern to join our Product Development team, who is particularly passionate about sustainability. With ambition to gain experience in sourcing, e-commerce and launching innovative products. The role will be focused on the development of our own brand products – Uncommon Collection. If you want to make a social and environmental impact this role is for you! 

Interns who work with our team will be exposed to the complete vendor sourcing and onboarding process and will be evaluating new vendors, as well reassessing existing vendors and our current product assortment for compliance with our new sustainability initiative  

The Production Intern reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for independently collecting and maintaining information about our products and vendors.  

Primary Responsibilities:. 

  • Collection, evaluation and documentation of manufacturer information for social and environmental compliance in accordance with Uncommon Collection criteria. 
  • Collection and management of product and vendor details for back-end item setup. 
  • QC of product listings to ensure products are ready for our customers to view.  
  • Support Production and Sourcing team. 

Skills & Qualifications 

  • An interest in unique and innovative product design and sustainability 
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently 
  • Self- starter with excellent communication and organization skills 

Applicants should be analytical, a problem solver, energetic, and self-propelled.  Due to Covid-19 social distancing requirements, this position will be 100% remote. Interns will need access to a computer system that can access remote desktop 

Applicants should have knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and a reliable home internet connection. Applicants with interest in sustainability and learning about the process of product development are strongly urged to apply. No industry experience required.
