Full-Time Clinical Informatics Manager

careers@verto.ca – Posted by careers@verto.ca Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Job Description

Imagine knowing the work you do is changing the face of the healthcare system in Canada. That’s what we do every day at Verto Health, create technology solutions that facilitate access to quality healthcare regardless of geographic location.

Who we are

Verto Health’s Digital Twin platform supports virtual care, streamlines data collection, allows for coordination between healthcare facilities, and acts as a patient engagement hub. Founded in 2017, our goal is to bring Canadian Healthtech to the global stage. Our mission is to build software that delivers improved patient outcomes and experience.

In September 2020, we partnered with McMaster HealthLabs (MHL) to use our technology to facilitate a pilot project to test thousands of travellers a day arriving in Canada for COVID-19. As a result of this successful pilot, and renewed commitment from Air Canada and the GTAA, we’re excited to respond to the demand for well-managed, secure, rapid testing. Read more about the pilot project here.

We are growing our team so we can expand our impact. We are hiring people who share our passion for improving care access, cost and quality using technology.

Who we need

Reporting to Kristy Munroe, the VP Clinical Implementations, we need a Clinical Informatics Manager. You will grow and manage a diverse Clinical Informatics team, ensuring our implementations are deployed on time, with high-quality delivery that exceeds our clients’ expectations. This is an exciting opportunity to spearhead a portfolio of large-scale projects that will change the current Canadian healthcare landscape in direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic – and beyond. You will have an influential voice as you provide value at all stages of clinical implementations, including requirements gathering, solution development, planning, validation and testing, training, implementation, and go-live.

What’s in it for you

This is a new role on a new team, doing what we do best: implementing a high-quality healthtech solution that will facilitate the rapid and secure transfer of patient data and information. Unlike traditional informatics lab roles, this project operates on an expansive scale. The solution your team is deploying will ramp up from hundreds of tests per day (now) to a hundred thousand tests per day (early 2021) and, ultimately, to a million tests per day (late 2021). You will be at the core of our team’s innovations and efforts to keep Canadians safe.

Exposure. You will be part of a dynamic team – a startup within a startup – managing a highly visible initiative. You will be given ownership and the chance to shine as a valued player. There is no end to the problems – and solutions – we will tackle, and that you will have the opportunity to be part of.

Influence. You will have the opportunity to hire and build out your teams and set the standards for project implementation in the Verto Lab division. You will work directly with executive stakeholders across funders, agencies, and customers to attract interest and influence commitment in our mandate and purpose.

Impact. You will make a tangible and timely impact on the health of Canadians, leading the implementation of a COVID-19 testing solution. Your success in this role will directly result in keeping Canadians safe. As deliverables are met, and new sites are added, your part will continue to evolve.

Career development. You will be mentored by our VP, Clinical Implementations, whose professional superpower is the ability to foster outstanding client relationships. You will be supported in your growth, from onboarding and guided partnering on your first project to developing and expanding your leadership strengths to take ownership for subsequent projects. You will be part of a company that rewards and recognizes merit, and creates new opportunities for advancement.

How you will make an impact

  • Manage client relationships. You will develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple organizations. You will maintain open and transparent communication, providing exceptional support throughout the project lifecycle to meet client expectations.
  • Lead clinical implementations. You will plan and oversee the end-to-end process for multiple concurrent and consecutive projects in the Verto Lab portfolio. You will:
    • Consult with clients to define clinical and administrative workflows.
    • Assist in solution design.
    • Propose recommendations and approaches.
    • Create, monitor, and report on the complete project plan, including budget, timeline, resource allocation, and milestones.
    • Manage change requests, delays, and roadblocks, escalating as necessary.
    • Provide regular project updates to leadership and other executive teams
  • Build a team. You will hire, onboard, and mentor a team of Clinical Implementation Analysts. You will oversee their day-to-day work, influencing their commitment, and creating a clear path for the timely completion of complex streams of work.

What you bring

  • The education. You have a Master’s in Health Informatics or a direct equivalent.
  • The experience. You have a cross-section of clinical domain experience in hospitals; medical labs; government agencies; health technology experience; and other healthcare systems. Ideally, you have exposure to the product or implementation side of systems for enterprise clients.
  • The knowledge. You have an understanding of the Canadian healthcare industry, public health, and the health IT landscape. You have exposure to medical laboratory and clinical processes. You understand the pain points of collecting data, accessing information, and navigating pathways and workflows in the healthcare ecosystem.
  • The passion. You believe in aiming for gold and you are driven to improve access, quality, and efficiency of healthcare. You want to work for a company obsessed with quality and purpose, one that is aiming for gold in the race to make life better for real patients and clinicians.
  • The project management expertise. You have a strong command of project management, principles, procedures, and best practices.
  • The flexibility. You are responsive to the needs and demands of your clients and can pivot and prioritize with ease. You are motivated by a fast-paced environment and can rise to the challenges of continuous change.
  • The leadership skills. You are collaborative in nature and can influence and inspire a team. You have outstanding oral, written, and presentation skills. You effectively nurture relationships across any level and can gain the trust of clients.
  • The heroics. You have a professional superpower. It could be the ability to focus on the user experience above all else like our Director of Product, Mahmoud, or our CFO Anna’s vision building strength, or our CEO Michael’s ability to know precisely when you are having fun (which you should be) and when you aren’t.
