Full-Time Finance and Operations Manager
Job Description
Net Impact is currently seeking a fast-moving, highly organized, and thoughtful professional to serve as its Finance and Operations Manager. The person will partner with the CFOO to execute all aspects of finance, general operations, HR and talent management at Net Impact.
This is an exceptional opportunity for those who are interested in nonprofit or small business financial management and have the aspiration to develop in a fast-paced organization positioned for significant growth. The ideal candidate will be a system-oriented thinker who enjoys working with numbers, ideally with 3 to 5 years of experience in financial projections, budget management and data analysis in any industry. This person is also a team player who is resourceful, approachable, and excited about culture development, team building and change management. They think strategically when they develop or improve on a process, but they equally enjoy getting their hands dirty in execution.
At this time, Net Impact can only consider applicants with authorization to work in the United States on a permanent, full-time basis. Unfortunately we cannot provide visa sponsorship.
Major responsibilities include:
Financial Management (approximately 50%)
- Work with CFOO to execute all finance and accounting operations including but not limited to supporting monthly financial projection process, restricted grant management and reporting, expense tracking, and payment processing
- Support CFOO in conducting financial analysis on Net Impact’s largest initiative, Up to Us, to drive program financial efficiency and effectiveness
- Support CFOO in developing and managing program budgets and developing ongoing projections with staff
- With the support of CFOO, support the management of Net Impact system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures and educate and assist team with the stated policies
- Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as needed
Operations (approximately 50%)
- Support project management of Net Impact’s virtual programming, including but not limited to speaker management and general event production tasks
- Assist in project managing Net Impact’s promises to sponsors for annual partnerships, including virtual events
- Support the development and execution of Net Impact response plan in crisis
- Create and coordinate events and activities to nurture and sustain Net Impact’s organizational culture and expectations
- Support talent initiatives, including but not limited to the goal development process, performance review process, and recruitment operations
- With the support of CFOO, lead new hire onboarding & benefits administration and departing employees offboarding process
- Lead in-office management and materials management to ensure the office has the supplies, technology, and resources needed; assist staff in troubleshooting facilities issues
- Support the management of legal, insurance, funding and other operational documents, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe and legally compliant working environment
Overall Qualifications / Requirements:
Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about efficiency and effectiveness, and has a background in finance and/or operations at a similar sized or larger organization. Direct nonprofit finance/accounting experience is preferred but not required. Candidates without nonprofit experience but has had exposure to financial projection or budget management through academics or volunteer positions in any industry are welcome to apply.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in financial projections, budget management and/or data analysis in any industry (could be concurrent with school)
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to take a project from concept to completion
- Motivated self-starter with ability to establish and meet goals and objectives
- High standards for excellence and exceptional attention to detail
- Proven analytic abilities, including quantitative analysis, proficiency with Excel
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with strong servant leadership attitude and enjoys helping others
- Enthusiasm for optimizing processes and team culture development
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and approach problems creatively
- Shows great personal discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality on financial and HR information

Hours: Full-time
Location: Currently remote due to the COVID-19 pandemic but candidates located in the Bay Area are preferred given the operational nature of the position. Our offices will remain closed until it is safe to resume regular operations, at which point the Finance and Operations Manager will need to be present in Oakland, CA, USA. Net Impact continually assesses COVID risk and is currently remote through March 2021.
Compensation: Salary range for this position is $62,000 to $68,000 annually. Competitive benefits package available, including medical, vision and dental insurance, flexible vacation and more.
