Responsibilities
At the entry level of this position, you will:
- Assist higher graded engineers/scientists in performing a wide range of administrative, technical and scientific work.
- Advise as to the adequacy and accuracy of data and processes, proper preservation and collection of samples and specimens, and provide technical assistance where applicable.
- Identify basic program needs with state, local or tribal agencies, and provide assistance on routine matters pertaining to the development, establishment and continuance of program activities.
- Perform quality control functions by reviewing and evaluating technical analyses, studies, sampling, or other forms of data processed by others for technical adequacy and acceptability.
- Prepare and disseminate scientific/technical information through oral briefings, written documents, workshop/conference/seminar presentations, and/or public hearings to provide information on significant analytical methods, sampling techniques, etc., related to a specific program, function, or activity.
When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses.
