Temporary DevOps Engineer
Job Description
Premier Talent Partners is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our client’s Video Gaming company in Redwood City, CA. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in Ruby, Python, AWS, Kubernetes, Istio, Chef, and Terraform. You’d be joining a very fast-paced and ever-changing environment that requires a diverse skillset and the ability to pivot quickly. This role is remote during COVID-19 until it’s safe to return to the office. As a result, candidates must live within a commutable range of the SF Bay Area.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the escalation path for on-call incident response and triage
- Perform root cause analysis and post-mortems with an eye towards future prevention
- Create configuration management and infrastructure automation
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for all products
- Design and deliver core infrastructure services
- Preemptively create stability, security, and performance improvements via metric/monitoring analysis
- Ensure every service has a complete high-availability and disaster recovery story
- Maintain security standards across everything we support
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is a plus
- Must have a strong understanding of *nix
- Familiar with both RHEL and Debian family distros
- Ad-hoc scripting expertise is a plus, along with the understanding of core services like DNS, DHCP, LDAP, logging, etc.
- Strong understanding of networking basics, including switching/routing, VPNs, load balancing, proxying, network virtualization, firewall basics (especially iptables), and general netsec best practices
- Prior experience with Ruby and Python is preferred, C/C++, Go, Java, and Scala is desirable
- Able to dive into the code during triage or while trying to understand behavior is a must
- Must understand configuration management and infrastructure as code tools, such as Chef (preferred), Puppet, Terraform (preferred), Packer, CloudFormation, etc.
- Solid grasp of distributed systems is a must
