Are you a Quality Assurance (QA) Professional seeking an exciting and challenging role?
We have an opportunity for a regional team leader with The Defence Quality Assurance Field Force (DQA-FF).
DQA FF is the primary organisation within MOD for the delivery of Government Quality Assurance (GQA) surveillance during all phases of defence capability acquisition on behalf of delivery teams and overseas customers.
GQA provides confidence to the Acquirer that contractual requirements related to quality are being performed effectively. This is achieved through the deployment of subject matter experts who apply Government Quality Assurance Surveillance (GQAS) techniques within the defence supply chain throughout the life cycle. These techniques are applied at Management System, process or product level and are based on an assessment of the supplier’s capability and performance.
You will lead and manage the Field Force Midland Region, comprising a group of MOD Licensed Chartered Quality Professionals based in Cheltenham, Nottingham, Warton, Waddington and West Bromwich whose purpose is to assist customers with assurance that suppliers satisfy contractual quality requirements and improve confidence in suppliers’ ability to deliver a quality product.
The successful incumbent is a member of the DQAFF management board, contributing to the development and delivery of DQAFF business plan outputs. In order to establish demand priorities and commitment of resources the post holder will be responsible for stakeholder engagement with a range of customers. You will chair Senior Quality Liaison meetings with industry, oversee regional engagement with suppliers and contribute to the development of Field Force continual improvement initiatives and MOD Quality Policy.
As Team Leader, you will have delegated authority to manage your region to deliver GQAS, sustain resource utilisation rate targets and support the upskilling of staff as part of their Continuing Professional Development.
The Regional Team Leader Role involves frequent travel within the Field Force Midland Region and occasional travel throughout the UK.
The successful incumbent can be base out of any of the following office locations: Cheltenham, Nottingham, Warton, Waddington and West Bromwich.
Responsibilities
You will manage teams of Government Quality Assurance Representatives (GQARs) who are geographically dispersed across the Midlands and your main responsibilities will include:
• Responsible for Managing and integrating multi-function QA delivery teams; directing QA resources to deliver packages of work / services, including complex upgrades, utilising new and existing technologies and interfacing with multiple stakeholders.
• Develop QA surveillance and assurance plans in response to supplier, supply chain and technical risk. Engaging with Delivery Team (DT) and NATO customers to inform their understanding of supply chain risk and supplier capability.
• Conduct and manage the delivery of QA surveillance in support of risk management, supplier oversight/assurance, verification, validation and acceptance.
• Supporting pre-contract award activities and providing specialist technical services (e.g. aircraft flight indemnity in support of Defence Condition 638);
• Provide input to equipment acceptance criteria and delivery plans to ensure that the equipment or service will conform to requirements and conduct acceptance activities.
• Implementing and contributing to MoD Quality Assurance policy for procurement.
• Contribute to Quality investigations, root cause analysis, internal process performance improvement activities and supplier escalations/interventions.
• Member of the DQA FF management board contributing to the development and delivery of Government Quality Assurance Surveillance (GQAS).
• Engage with DQA FF customers and other stakeholders including suppliers.
This role involves frequent working in industrial environment with requirement for officer to interface with / operate equipment and to work at heights or in confined spaces.
This role will involve frequent periods of lone working, detached duty travel and irregular working hours.
What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• Chartered Quality Professional or has demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience to achieve within 12 months.
• Minimum of IEng but CEng Preferred or has demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience to achieve within 12 months.
• Breadth of industry/manufacturing and QA experience gained from involvement with multiple projects and domains including supply chain management.
• Proficient and demonstrable experience in staff management.
It would benefit your application should you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
• Completed an approved LRQA Lead auditor 9001:2015 course.
• MOD Quality Practitioner License.
• Applied knowledge of QA within the acquisition environment.
