British Swimming is the National Governing Body for Swimming, Para-Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Open Water in Great Britain.
We are seeking a Head of Performance Pathway for the British Para-Swimming Programme.
British Para-Swimming has an outstanding performance legacy of being the top medal earning Olympic or Paralympic Sport for Great Britain in successive Games and the team is well positioned to continue that history at the rearranged Tokyo Paralympics in 2021. At last year’s World Para-Swimming World Alliance Championships in London the team finished second on the Medals table amazing 47 medals of which 19 were Gold.
The purpose of this role within the team is to lead all aspects of the British Para-Swimming (BPS) Talent Pathway from Home Nations Talent to the World Class Podium Potential Level.
- To lead on the key relationships with the Home Nations – Swim England, Scottish Swimming and Swim Wales.
- To ensure the domestic competition pathway structure is aligned and creates the optimal competition pathway for British Para-Swimmers.
- To line manage the Classification Coordinator/Office Manager and the Home Programme Liaison Coaches linked to Podium Potential.
- To be part of the British Para-Swimming Leadership Team.
The successful candidate will need to have previous experience of working within an Olympic or Paralympic Performance Pathway system, producing and implementing performance based strategies, identifying and developing talented athletes and have previous line management experience.
Developing and managing partnerships is critical to this role and therefore excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also required.
We are looking for someone who is able to work on their own and as well as leading and being part of a team with a flexible approach to work and the ability to work effectively under pressure whilst managing a diverse workload.
Previous experience of working with Para-sport athletes, working within Swimming and/or working with the British Paralympic Association and/or IPC would be desirable.
