Primary Purpose:

Provides the company with ongoing capability to identify all hardware and software assets across a large IT enterprise environment. Manages overall execution of hardware and software configuration and asset management processes within IT. Establishes and oversees policies and processes to ensure adequate Asset Management governance. Assesses and manages risk associated with current assets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and improves policies, processes and standards following industry best practices. Develops use cases, business rules, and process diagrams showing activity flow to effectively articulate and represent business processes, desired outcomes, and requirements. Evaluates adequacy of controls and corrective measures and identifies and makes recommendations on alternate measures. Validates system design approaches to ensure they fully meet business requirements.
  • Maintains asset inventory database on a regular basis, including verifying asset lifecycle status and resolving issues identified in discrepancy reports. Ensures legacy hardware is flagged for replacement and legacy software is updated and patched regularly to avoid introducing security vulnerabilities into the environment. Audits, validates and reconciles hardware and software asset licenses against installed asset base. Analyzes inventory to identify areas of non-compliance. Identifies elements connected to the network that may pose a security risk and assists with mitigation strategies.
  • Researches and makes recommendations for automation opportunities in the collection and distribution of asset data. Defines measurements and KPI’s to validate quality of data and process maturity.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all aspects of Asset Management. Conducts training and presentations to Sempra stakeholders on IT asset management topics on a regular basis. As a member of IT Service Management team, assists with various Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) process engagements.
  • Develops strong relationships with vendors and creates new relationships in the collection of current and historical asset data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, related field or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • 5 years of direct experience with IT Hardware/Software Asset and/or Configuration Management.
  • 3 years of experience with ServiceNow asset management and Flexera SAM tools.
  • Must have working knowledge of administering and implementing Software Asset Management toolsets such as Flexera and ServiceNow.
  • Ability to independently perform technical and analytical work.
  • Ability to learn and apply new and established methods, procedures and techniques.
  • Must have strong organizational skills to inventory, track, and manage all Software and Hardware assets and analyze and develop solutions addressing Sempra needs.
  • Working knowledge software license types, terms and conditions and Enterprise Agreements.
  • Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills including facilitation and the ability to effectively interface and work with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into use case models.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • A solid understanding and working knowledge in developing processes for software removal and reclamation is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of Business Process management experience.
  • 5 years of experience in implementation of quality controls and risk mitigation.
  • Working knowledge of System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Tanium products and processes highly desired.
  • Understanding of product use rights for cloud computing desired.
  • Working knowledge of vendor management and negotiation desired.
  • One or more of the following International Association of IT Asset Managers (IAITAM) certifications preferred: Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), Certified IT Asset Disposition (CITAD), Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM), Certified Hardware Asset Manager Professional (CHAMP)
  • A ITIL V3/V4 Foundation Certification is preferred.
